My blood pressure tends to read high. 90 and above on the bottom number is a redflag to not only SNI, but a medical pro as well. With medication, my BP stays around 135/78. But since I'm on BP meds, I can only be certified for a year at a time. Kind of a pain in the butt for me, I had to drive over 100 miles to go to a DOT examiner that SNI would accept.:biggrin_25525:

Yes, those BP readers you just clip on your wrist are not very accurate, at least the cheap ones. My wife was an RN for close to 40 years, so I do know a bit about it. The cuffs are the best way to read BP, but it takes a little practice to be able to get an accurate reading.:biggrin_25525:

Doing my orientation at Carlisle, PA in 2 weeks. Guess I'll need to get out and start doing some jogging and such to bring my BP under a little better control. PC, thanks for the heads up on the laptop issue. I figured that they probably were not going to give enough time to do it all in class. At least this way, as you stated, you can run through it at your own pace. And I will most likely do as Raider did and simulate the tasks so as to be prepared for them. I viewed the video once before but looks like I am going to have to go over it again...

Today was in essence our last day of Orientation.

We spent sme time early this morning with speakers about safety and company history and business models. We then went out and took our road, range, and equipment testing. I passed all three. After lunch, we took our written final, and myself and our entire remaining class passed. We were at least told it was the first time that instructor had everyone pass both with one chance at each. Seems a bit far fetched to me, but it was complimentary so I took it.

We then crammed about 2 hours of actual employment paperwork in to finish the day. I would guess we signed 12-15 packets of information noting we read and understood this policy, that policy, etc. The highlight I guess would be getting an SNI comdata card, employee number, board number, and home OC. It is really just another couple of moments of going through the motions, and we will go home. The indication is that about 2-4 hours tomorrow and we will be headed home. They have assigned me a TE, but I have not been contacted by him yet, but will update soon as I can. Sorry for the short post but I have some other things to tend to, and we will start tomorrow at 5:30 AM.

Congrats to you, and thanks for the daily updates. As if you didn't have enough to do. You have set the standard and I look forward to tomorrow at noon when I shall leave the comforts of my home in VA and head to Carlisle for my turn at the long awaited stress and hopefully completion of my orientation. Wish me luck. I will try to keep you up to date, good or bad, in hopes that I too may be an inspiration as you have been to me. Good luck Raider and Godspeed. Congratulations.

Where does it say you can only get a one year card if you're on blood pressure medicine? That's a new one on me .

I'm not sure if it's DOT or not, but that's all any Dr. would ever give me, so I lean toward some regulation. Not a big deal really, except for the long drive up here. One thing I never thought of, SNI would have likely reimbursed my fuel if I'd said something. They're good for things like that.:biggrin_25525:

I think the BP parameters are listed on the Long Form of your DOT medical. Section 5 titled, oddly enough, Blood Pressure/Pulse Rate:biggrin_2558:

Thanks, I know where it's listed, it's my understanding that if your BP is under 140/90 you can get a two yr. card. It doesn't matter if it takes medication to keep it there. This is important, some companies will not hire you if you can not get a two yr. card.:biggrin_2556:

Sorry. Never heard that one, but I'm still new at this. Hope it works out for you. Good Luck.
