Hi there,
I have a question for truckers that use CPAC machines. Do you buy a battery pack or can you use the cigarette lighter with an inverter? If so, what size inverter did you get? If you do use the truckers batteries, do you need to keep the key in the on position or in the lighter always active?

Most machines have a DC adapter available that plugs into a powerpoint(cig lighter). check with your supplier or sleep doc to get one. Can't tell you cost, mine was free through VA.

My co drivers machine cost $3,485 but the company paid for it along with a inverter,

There have been a bunch of threads devoted to the CPAP in trucking:

And there may be more. This was just what a quick search turned up. -
You mean the actually install them in truckers now!
WOW!
Ain't technology wonderful!

Just make sure your inverter is large enough to handle it. A lot of trucks now have APU's so you will be able to just plug it in. You could wear it while you are driving down the road and look like a fighter pilot!

wow a 3000 dollar machine. i just bought 2 from cpap.com that were auto adjusting for 1200. I use one and gave the other to brother who needs it. only reason I bought is my cobra insurance only rents but it is mine if i have it 15 months. The idiot dr who diagnoses me at Kaiser said I was a level 6. I was a 12 and auto has me set at 10.5. oops drifted off sorry

How did you manage to get scrips for 2 machines?
-
You can buy a cpap machine without a script/prescription. All the script/prescription is good for is the pressure. I have a friend who got a machine he thought he had sleep apnea got it off cpap, the person had all the books and such so my friend set pressure low and slowly build up and now is sleeping well. He spend 699 bucks and avoiding the 1000's of dollars for testing.

speaking cpap machines does anyone have any trouble with there machine while trying to sleep while the truck is in motion?
