Of course isnt it about 90% of the time? 10 dollar part or a little sensor that cost next to nothing to make but the 10 hours of scanning and trouble shooting screws ya! Bill of a grand to replace that 10 dollar part....

Well here is where we stand. Cat checked air comp and precooler and all checked out good. Still pushing water. Gave them permission to remove head to look deeper. BLAM problem found. Blown head gasket between #2 and #3 cyc. And also a cracked head in the same spot. (OUCH). They asked me to pull the 6 packs to check for erosion on block. I said ok. Maybe looking a putting a platinum overhaul hit in. Not sure. This is wow for a truck that has 503,000 miles on it. 2nd head.

Well the verdict is in. The block was in bad shape. So here's the prices that was quoted. To replace head and gaskets and counter bore block and replace 3 liners and rings...$11,000.00. To go with the Gold overhaul kit plus head and 4yr OPT....$16,500.00. And finally the platinum kit w/ 4yr OPT warranty.....$18,300.00.
So I decided to do the Platinum kit.

I had the same problem with a C-15 Accert (475), one by one the boss man replaced the coolant hoses and the problem has gone away.....Only thing we can figure is there must have been a small leak we may have missed in our searches....It would seem that much coolant would be easy to find if it was leaking, but we never did find where it was going..

good luck its a real PIA I know !!
