    What ever it is if it keeps you out of Canada then its a good thing. I wont work for a company that goes to Canada.

    Thank you for the responses. I will be getting off Probation 08/18/2010 (3 days). I have about 10 years exp on 28' ft box truck in Chicago (No tickets/accidents) and 3 years Limo Driver in Chicago (No tickets/accidents). I know my way around the city and I absolutley LOVE to drive and be on the road. I can do 10-12 hours straight with maybe 2 fuel stops and one extra bathroom break, before I get tired. I don't get impatient when I have to wait (as long as it is not too long). Will that help me in getting a job?

    The easiest thing to do is do a background check on yourself that way you know what will and will not be there. I had some stuff from when I was younger, nothing big at all but I wanted to know if there would be any problems. Even called the districts I'd dealt with to see what records they kept, all but one said the cases were too old and they didn't save the info and the other was not a concern anyway. With everything computerized I'm sure today they would have been saved. Anyway I've done this thru several online services, they're inexpensive really, and you'll have the info you need to proceed with your applications. My girlfriend works for a company that routinely has to do checks on prospective employees for companies she deals with, lots of people tell her "yeah yeah i'm clean, nothing there". Well needless to say many of these people have stuff there, if they were more honest it wouldn't have mattered in many of the situations but with some forget it. Multiple DUI issues, all kinds of other serious issues that make them un-hireable. Anyway I would recommend that route for anyone looking to get into this field. I don't want to suggest one company over another to do this so look up a few companies online that do background checks and make up your own mind on who to go with.

    If your willing to do the hard miles and have no problems with working straight for 8 - 14 days away from home then doing OTR highway work will be your oyster and pearl its all about getting the delivery's there on time and doing lots of miles and putting up with some nasty dispatches. if you can handle that you home and hosed.
