I got the number of a terminal manager from one of the forum tanker drivers, called while I was still in school and was accepted to go into the bulk division. They made me attend their school in Harrisburg, PA even though I was attending a PTDI certified school. The training was great though and I drove a tanker filled halfway with water all over the surrounding area.

The bad ending to the story started when they sent me to New Jersey for training even though my home terminal would be Charlotte. The Jersey terminal is a dump and the dispatchers were the two biggest azzhats I ever dealt with. I quit and told them that life is too short to work for people like that.

 

Looks like you're not too far from Carlisle, the Harrisburg OC. Have you applied to SNI yet? Or just kicking it around. Give SNI a call if you haven't already, they'll talk to ya.
I've never driven tanks either, even though I've the endorsement for it.

 

We trained pumping water in and out of a tank trailer in Coraopolis, PA, another muddy dump.

I forget the Jersey terminal city but it wasn't Paulsboro. They put us up in a real dump of a motel with hookers, pimps and lowlifes. Had me shuttling drivers to the terminal several times in the middle of the night then was supposed to go out with TE all day.
