We just purchased a 2005 Century Class with a 14L 515hp Detroit s60 series engine, 10 spd trans, 3:50 gears and 22.5 low pro tires. This used to be a JB Hunt truck.
This truck has no power at all. I drove it today, the only thing slower then me was a 5 axel garbage truck. Once you hit over 1600Rpm no power at all.
Also while cruising with the pedal to the floor I keep hearing a squeaking noise coming from the right side of the engine. As soon as I release the pressure even so slightly the noise goes away. Step on the pedal I can hear the turbo spooling up and it cuts off and the noise is back. Anyone have any ideas.

did you get an engine print out to see what jb had the parameters set at?--it is probabely neutered by jb --you can get that reset at detroit or f-liner--dont think it would need a different program---and are the fuel and air filters recent?
as for the squeak--might be any thing from belts/pulleys worn--to loose/worn engine mounts--exhaust loose ?????

I'm going in next week for a print out. I believe the parameters are on the weak side, well I hope they are.

Get it put wide open...My KW was fairly open when I got it, but I had all of the parameters opened up. It's your truck now..so why not?

Dealer charged me $125 for their 'time' to do this.

    Update.

Freightliner opened up all the parameters and she pulls hard through all RPM's. Jb Hunt runs their trucks @375 Hp. Poor drivers with those 80,000 lbs loads. :)

Could the squeaking noise be the charge air, or associated hose leaking?

My first thought, if not an exhaust leak.

Like putting a piece of cellophane between your lips.....?
