I'm looking at getting on with SNI hopefully to enter their Tank div in TX, begining on the 27th. (I'll know more today when the drug tests come back) Anyway, I have a dilemma that i'm trying to figure out and was hoping that some of you may be able to help shed some light on the subject.
Whan I complete my training (about 5 weeks) and get my own truck, I was told that I would not be permitted to take my truck home with me, mainly because of the HAZmat, which I can completely understand. How ever, the situation is, with us living a good 70 miles from Charlotte, NC Term, and that my wife is just learning to drive (she's from China) and I know that she is definately not ready for any kind of BIG CITY DRIVING.
Does the company permit one to either Bobtail to the house (Heck,I'd be willing to pay for the fuel) or be permitted to park the truck at a local Wilco Truck stop, where I see pleany of tank drivers parked? At least until I can get a few paychecks behind me in order to get a 2nd reliable used car/truck that I can use to get me there & back.
I need to be able to figure out something, realtively quick. Thanks
Question?

I'm not sure of Bulk, but van was a 100 mile radius from the terminal, and then you could take the truck home. Now with van, hazmat was not an issue, I don't think any of us took a load home except on a rare occasion. But yeah, I wouldn't have taken hazmat home anyway.
You're in a bit of a dilemma to be sure. About the only thing I could say, would be to wait until you have a DBL to talk to, and explain the problem.
Will you be out of Houston? If so, I could give you the phone# for the Houston OC. Driver services would answer the phone, and probably put you in touch with someone there that could maybe help you out. Just a thought.

I actually live In NC so the closest term would be Charlotte, NC. I will be going to Dallas TX for 10 days for orientation & then onto LA for tanker Training. After that, it's home for about 3 days & then getting up with a trainer for about 3 weeks or so, at which point I would then be assigned a truck.
Like I said, if need be, I'd be willing to pay for the fuel for a few turns until I could get a cheap car / truck.
But yeah, any help would be great.
Thanks -
Yepper, PM on the way!!

Is there anyone here that has gone through the hoops there at Dallas & LA? Doesn't hurt any to get a little bit of the inside scoop, LOL.
Oh yeah, I'll give charlotte a call here in a few, Thanks -
Where's the Schneyder Hotel Located there In Dallas, anyone know? Also, would it be expensive to take a cab from DFW Airport to the hotel or is there a shuttle driver?
Thanks -
there's a slight possiblility that there's a tankwash located near your house, in which case they might have you park your truck there.
-
Nope, No truck wash here in this mom & pop Town, how ever, I know of a Schneider Tanker driver that lives just up the road from me & he's parking his rig there at his house, so I might have enough just cause to ask or request. What;s good for one should be good for all

Should a carrier take their percentage from the rate for the particular load excluding the FSC or do they take their percentage from the gross

Sorry. Was trying to start my own thread. Still haven't figured that one out yet. Please feel free to answer the question or tell me how to get this in it's own thread.
