It is NOT a stevens school, but one they work with. Just call recruiting and ask. Same with the school in Denver CO, and Colton CA.

Safety talk, VDPD, Compliance, work Shop, Fuel, Central Clearance. About covers everyone.

Wish I was there, I would grab that pepsi run...especially if it has the Worland WY plant.

If your looking for a job, truck driving is NOT for you....

truck driving is more than a job, you are never home, unless your home is where you park each night.

You work 80+ hours in 7 days, with no days off.

You eat and sleep at strange times, in strange places.

You have "people" banging on your home at all times of the day and night.

You try to keep in contact with family, friends, via Telephone, texting....not the same as being there with them.

You will have rude people who treat you like your not human, because you are a truck driver. (shippers and receivers, restaurant staff)

Everyone thinks we make tons of money, not true. Lots of expenses.

Everyone has a say in what you can and can not do.

Always under a time constraint, a deadline.

If you are just looking for a job, go flip hamburgers.

well I got my list. all the normal stuff. no big deal. all except one say, "next time on the yard". The one?
    See my DM.
Figured I was going to get spanked for being out of fuel compliance.
Turns out they sold my truck.
The new ones are starting to arrive and they're sending out the old ones. Mine was coming up on 500,000,but figured I still had one more month to go. Had it all figured out. Come back, clean out the truck, fly home for a few days and come back.
Best laid plans of mice and men.
So I got routed upstairs to Gabby. She's been all over me for the last few weeks.
I gave in. Said I'd sit thru all the classes and if the numbers work for me, I'll do it.
Got my truck cleaned out this afternoon. Regardless of which way I go, there won't be a truck available for a couple days.
Here's something I found interesting. The first 300 700s coming in go to the company side.
    Oh well.
Oh yea...and my non compliance for fuel? No problem. Seems I don't burn enough and that puts me out of compliance.
    go figger.

got to love computer programs...set the fuel program at the fleet average, and then say a driver that is driving smart, is not compliant. The humans at least understand.

Don't let gabby talk you into it, unless the numbers work for you. And the classes will NOT tell you the truth either. They are a sales pitch, for those who have never ran a business. This coming from a successful lease driver, who is always at home on the road...

Miles ran 3272 another good week

    Miles paid 3432

Miles Transflowed, not yet paid 1200

Started Monday morning at Ontario West, drove the 1/2 mile to Kraft, for what was scheduled as a live unload. Check in, get told to drop it, and find an empty. Yea...Grab an empty, sure wish one of the new trailers had been empty, but none were. Back over to West, to await a load assignment. I am short on hours on my log book, making it difficult to find me a load. within the hour, the QC beeps, Pick up 1 mile away, live load at 2pm, 2 drops, in denver, then longmont CO. Go over check in, bumb the dock and wait. About 3 hours later, I am told I am loaded, go and get the paperwork, go out to close the doors, loaded clear to the tail with one tall pallet on the left side, room for one more pallet on truck. Grab my load locks to try and secure the single pallet.

Head up cajon pass, get the green light for the open scale, reach the summit and my phone is ringing, return to shipper they forgot a pallet. Turn around in Victorville, back down Cajon, get the green light for the open scale, and return to the shipper. Pull in, get told to put it in any door, I do, even with load locks that tall pallet had not survived. The supervisor takes pictures, to reprimand the loader, they restack the pallet, put on the pallet they missed, and off I go again. The 90 minutes up and down cajon is going to hurt, as I can no longer make the first appointment in Denver for 0600 to 1300 on Wednesday. I do not have the hours left on my log book to reach Denver. But I do have the hours to reach Longmont Co, Mclane the main customer for this load. Denver only has that tall pallet, and 2 short pallets.

Head up cajon again, and get the red light, pull onto the scale, and get told to park it and bring in my paperwork. This day just keeps getting better. Walk in with my paperwork, and the officer asks me if I am lost? "no," I reply, "the shipper forgot a pallet, and I had to turn around and go get it." He checks my log book, wants to know where I turned around, I tell him, He wants a line drawn showing the time I turned around. I comply, he is happy, and back to the truck. I can just make my fuel stop, Loves Las Vegas if I have no more problems.
I stop for the evening at Loves, fuel, PTI, shower, eat, send in my running late and repower request, and go to bed.

Tuesday get up I only have 7 hours to drive, and I burn them to the ground. DM is trying to get the CSR to reschedule the drops, since the shipper caused the problem. Plan is to get up at midnight, and run hard, which will put me in Longmont by 9am, so another truck can finish the run. My DM does not like that idea, just deliver on thursday. I don't like that idea either, as Mclane is a nightmare if you are late. I can take a 10 hours break, drive the 15 minutes to Mclane, make their appointment, they will just have to set the 3 pallets aside, and reload them for me. I let my DM know, and he says go for it. So I pull into Mclane for the 9pm appt, check in, let the lumpers know about the other stop, they have no problem with it, $470 fee, and back out to the truck. They tell me don't be in a hurry, this load has massive breakdown. Yes it does, 3600 pieces, and the largest single item, 52 cs. It took until 6am to be called back in for my paperwork. 7 hours detention time.

But the load is short 16 cases sandwich bags, and 1 damaged cs of olive oil. Send in my message 22, call, and dispatch says go ahead and go to your next drop. Next drop is right behind the Sapp bros Truck Stop. Back in, unload the 3 pallets, and they have no problems with me being a day late. They are happy to have it before friday they say.

OS&D became a night mare, as she did not understand that I had ran the load in reverse, due to hours of service. Lots of messages, arguments, about what did she not understand about the seal, that the first seal was for Mclane, since they unloaded first. My DM finally stepped in and said he would solve it. I faxed in the paper work and was finally released from OS&D hold.

Some people will always believe what is on the computer screen even when the Human is telling them what actually transpired.

Get a load picking up in Dodge City KS, DLD is Friday 0645. That works good with my log book, I have enough time to get to dodge, drop the trailer, get a good meal and good nights sleep, get up and roll east. It is a 4 drop load final in Maine. finally after 2 1/2 years, I get a maine load. Get sent the message that dodge has started on my load, and it should be ready early. Makes little difference to me with my hours. The flying J in dodge has closed the restaurant, and is replacing it with subway...yuck!!!!! Walk down the street to the Pancake house, food was not good. Get up Friday, check in with National beef at 6am, load is not ready, check back at 0645, load is not ready, maybe by 8am. I think that instead of saying the meat loads need the trailer head there ASAP, they are now saying they have started on your load.

Get the load at 0830, scale it, loaded clear to the doors, 13th hole to get it legal, and I am 79900 gross. I have a nice run across country, lots of rain, and arrive at Buzzutos, cheshire CT at 6pm Sunday for a Monday 3am appt. Check in, they don't start unloading beef loads until 3am, shoot the breeze with a couple of other drivers from other companies, catch some sleep. They call me at 0230 to put it in a door.

And so ends another adventure, another week. My OS&D adventures continue next week.

I'm starting Houston Community College's CDL program for Stevens on Monday. I've thought about trucking for several years now, but in the past I was making good money and didn't want to take a chance on something unknown.

Now, however, I NEED the work. So I'm going for it.
