I will have to pass! I know of a few of their former drivers. One of them was in his dumb and dumber training with the 2 trainiees running teams. His co trainee did not know how to decend a mountain. They broke the speed of sound going down. He politely phrased him as the son of his parents that were not married at birth! :biggrin_2552: That was one of the better things he had to say about stevens. He said the hotel was a crime scene with bullet holes in the wall. Nice way to spend orientation. Step under the tape and over the bodies as you leave your hotel.

You got a point tho. If you can stick it our with them anyone will hire you; because if you can drive for them, you can go bear hunting with a switch!:biggrin_2554:

I'm not going to call any body an idiot as that is against site rules, but I hopes its OK to say that it is REALLY REALLY REALLY crazy to do some thing like this.

Like I've said else where there is a reason that 7 hrs is the longest I've ever waited. Unless I'm getting paid well there is no chance in hades that I'll just hang out for 3 days.

If YOU own the truck YOU can do anything YOU want. If YOU don't own the truck its a different story. You do what you are told. I was in the military for 20 years. Hurry up and wait was the norm. The 3 day wait did allow me to : Go shopping at Wally World; Clean out my truck; Restart so I had the hours to take the load to Boston and take a load from NH to Laredo with just enough hrs to make it home to restart again.................Yea waiting at shipper and receivers sucks and we get jacked around. I DID get paid to wait !! So whats it too you? I've already retired from 2 jobs so I can afford to "learn". They've been good to me so far.

Maybe you could define the origin of "lumper". Show us what you really know. I'll even let you "Google It"

I may be called an idiot but something really stinks here. You don't even know me and you are calling me names.

If it weren't "against the rules" 'YOU' would have.

I'm not going to call 'YOU' a MORON because its " against the site rules" but in your case I should make an exception. But I won't degrade this forum.

Now if you'd like to have a discussion about waiting for loads or anything else about trucking I'm all "ears".

Good LORD! I'da been on the phone every 20 minutes, and inside every 22. had a similar dilemma. I called up and had my dispatcher put me in with OUR customer service people. Then had THEM call up the shipper's customer service rep. They agreed that 8 hrs was WAY too long for a straight pull and count! Walked up to he lumper foreman, handed him my phone and said "This is your boss. He wants to know what the hell's taking so long." Needless to say, I was unloaded and counted QUICKLY after that.

    Believe me, I wasn't sitting quietly! :biggrin_2551:

But when dispatch says there's no other loads and you have to wait -- not much you can do!

I was in the plant every hour and it was always the same story - that the product was almost ready, blah, blah, blah.

I love waiting. The truck is sitting still, not burning fuel, not wearing tires etc, and the money is still rolling in. It's like free money from heaven.
