Anyone have experience in schools approved from them? I called and there is only 3 schools in GA and none in FL. I am not a GA resident anymore and the cost for regular resident is 4k and out to state is 12k with Chattahoochee Tech in Acworth, GA. Another School called Great Southern Driving School has a class but housing is not included. I am not sure what to do, I do not want to change companies, or careers again. This is going to be my last change. It appears that I must call them for all my questions rather than a email. I am a loyal person when it comes to work. I may look into Roehl also?

Anyone else have suggestions? I am military veteran with a good driving record.

Crete and its subsidiaries are a good outfit. I'd tend to trust their recommendations.

I think I posted to you before. Crete and Schaffer are an excellent company and if you can get hired on with them don't think twice. Have you checked with TDI in Sanford,fl They might be an accredited school.

My husband currently works for Schaffer..most recent pay stub gross for the year is slightly over 22,000.00. We are both really disappointed. Plus he is only home 3 days a month.

Huh? $22K gross for a year at .36cpm (which is the last I heard Schaffer is paying good drivers with a minimim of 1 yr exp) is only 5945 miles per month, without any bonuses or accessory pay.

usually betweeen 1500-2000 weekly..occas he will get 2500-3000..when he is stuck on the east coast his loads are 200-400 miles plus he usually has to wait to get unloaded, which is usually hours later , which than uses up his hours for the day..it is very very hard trying to find another job when your only home 3 days a month

Bonuses are paid for all sorts of stuff, from crossing monthly mileage thresholds, to keeping the truck's mpg above some pre-set point, to passing DOT inspections.

Accessory pay is for excessive waits, tarping (if a flatbedder), etc. Task related things. Sometimes even attending classes.
