So I just finished Orientation 1 with Stevens, and have too say it's very good. In 4 days they squeeze in alot of very good information. From mall the usual policy stuff to mountain driving, plus road tests and backing skills.
overall it's a real ride. the typical timetable for the whole training process in 9-11 weeks... now I'm just stuck waiting to be assigned a trainer. for my first 5 weeks out.
Right now there are about 35 waiting with me, but they seem to be getting them out quickly since the 4th of July holiday is over.
So far best training money can buy. Plus I have been able to talk with a few drivers ( alliance and company) who are all very personable, and very open with information.
well that is my little update as I go thru this process.. I'll keep updating this post with my view of the training process.
New Stevens.. trainee....

finally out on the road.. got flown to California , got a few miles in today.. found out my down-shifting in traffic sucks... and California roads are tight at times.. scared myself a few times..
But happy to be out getting my 35 days started.. we have a load headed east, so I'll be trimming my mountain requirements pretty quick.. -
Good luck.

so been out with my trainer for a few days.. and cleared my 2 mountains..one by load weight, the other by gross weight... jake brake is a wonder to use.
so far , I'm doing okay.. i guess.. still pissing off my trainer when i miss the downshift going up hill... Sitting on a live unload in Cali while he sleeps. Light just went red.. thankfully.. then back to the J' and a call to produce in the morning. -
Been a bit since I updated.. O1 training is going good.. I have 9 days and 1400 miles to clear for O2 ( Scheduled for the 23rd of August) Yep, I cleared all my Mtns and zones plus the N.E. dock bump.
My trainer is very patient with me, which has helped. Were back in Fl, getting ready for a Tropicana load. -
Now you will know what a heavy load is! Keep updating.
-
Well I'm back in Dallas starting O2 on the 23rd. 3 days of hell.. followed by who knows how many of being luggage. -
I will not haul an over weight load, without the proper permits for every state I am going through, before I move the truck.Rattlebunny Thanks this.
