OK so my dad drives a car hauler for NASCAR he's only been doing it for about a month now but once you get your foot in the door with NASCAR it's very easy to get more/better jobs within NASCAR.
So anyway he was talking to some Important people (I wont say who) but they have asked me if I would be interested in pulling a car haulerthats pretty much what I looked like. They said they'll hire me even without any OTR experience. Now there are two different people I could pull for (again I'm not going to say who).
So I'm looking for advice here:
Should I look into this Car hauler thing more?
or should I go OTR with hopefully Watkins Shepard and then possibly drive for NASCAR later if the job was open?
I kind of want to just go OTR and Drive, Drive, Drive! But at the same time driving a NASCAR car hauler is one of my DREAM jobs! Although with the NASCAR job there will be less money to be made at first then OTR and allot more work outside the truck.
Any advice?

Man I would think that the NASCAR gig would be better than going straight otr. But in reality you have to answer that one for yourself. Yes if you take the NASCAR job you will have some off time but that's during the worst parts of the year so in my opinion that would be a bonus....but that's me man. whichever one you take good luck and be safe driver!!!

Do what you want to do, dont let others make decisions for you.

I know just looking for a little advice. I have to choose between my Dream job that doesn't pay all that well at first and has a very weird schedule and a 60 FOOT LONG TRAILER! or regular OTR. Nothing is set in stone with the NASCAR job it was just something that was mentioned to my dad when he told them I have a CDL.
I got allot of thinking to do in the next couple of weeks lol

I'd rather not get to specific until I make my decision as I don't want 10,000 drivers with way more experience trying to take the job(s). lol

weigh all the pros and cons and do what is right for you. In reality a job like that doesnt get offered too lightly or too often no matter WHO you know. Sometimes we dont listen when opportunity knocks and other times we think it's knocking and it isn't even in the neighborhood. Like I said good luck in whatever you choose driver!!

I know a guy who is a gas man on a Nascar team and he also drives the transporter some times. You will be well taken care of, trust me. I guess the thing is do you have a family at home? The schedule is grueling because you'll be gone for basically nine months with only a couple of off weeks in there but you'll have basically 3 months off in the winter. Plus if you like racing your in every race for free and not only that but tons of other perks like meeting and knowing the who's who not only in racing but celebrity's and such in general. I would love to have that gig but I could not do it because I could not stay away from my family for that long. If that's your dream job then you need to consider all options and consequences very hard as there may never be "another opportunity" for you to do that. Good Luck

You never put a price on somthing. Money is a horrible motivator, focus on what you want and enjoy it. If you like doing somthing you will adapt.
The larger the trailer the easyer it is, dont let big things scare you.American-Trucker Thanks this. -
one of the pros in my opinion is that you won't be driving in the worst of the winter that's for sure!!!!!
American-Trucker Thanks this.
