If any of you out there are considering going to work for knight as a company driver be sure and ask all the pay questions before you committ
most company drivers will lose a substantial amount of income unless you're good at kissing butt...maybe even then...in my mind dispatchers have too much power and don't know how to handle it fairly and properly..
unfortunately most of the big companies such as knight are very similiar
in pay and benefits....i'll give you a good comparison that may help you...
have you ever bought a retail product with a big rebate only to maybe
not dot all your i's and cross all your t's and ended up losing your rebate.
many of these companies work similiarly. they strategize on how to make thier pay package appear very attractive and then plan on a high percentage of thier drivers never realizing that pay. Ihave a saying
" to not pay a driver all that he legitimately earned is not his fault or an accident, it's a strategy" and i truly believe this. till next time -
well i worked for them too some of the things he is talking about happened to me. i was never short on my money but i was told to run even when i was out of hours. i dont blame the company just the dispatcher

You are so full of ####.

This is a ripoff for the drivr--get paid -2 cents/mile less but is non-taxable! But Knight just doesnt do---many co.s are going this route!! I dont take per diem option (which means pay higher overall taxes on larger income) but get income up for SS wages in future!! Knight et al try to 'bribe' the drvrs by saying you will have more 'take home pay!' But the big winner is Knight et all paying drvrs 2 cents less/mile overall---it's all about their $$$!!!
BTW, they make it harder on the driver if he/she doesnt take per diem by having to sign papers every year and go up the chain for signatures!!
