There are alot of people here. I am not rich but I know if over 3000 people got together we could chip in and pay that truck of for what 25 buck each. I really have no idea but if we got together it can't be much. I would like to know if there are others that would help.

I just wanted to say that the support here as been wonderful. It's far more than my husband and I ever expected. The bank loan didn't work out, but we're still working hard to exhaust other options. We're not ready to give up because we realized how important that owning a truck is to us.
I've told my husband about the great support and he wanted me to make sure to convey his thanks and appreciation. This is another example of this industry looking out for its own and the heartfelt caring drivers and their families have.
Part of the reason we've stayed in this industry for as long as we have is because of the unique lives we all live and how it bonds us. It's a shame that those outside of it has little to no appreciation for the hard work and sacrifice.
I'll still be hanging around here and throwing my opinion around...a lot :smt039
Thank you all so much! -

I really appreciate it, Redrocker. This means the world that you and others are willing to make an effort on our behalf.
My husband and I have strengthened our resolve and will get through this. Thanks to the wonderful support here, we're not giving up at all.
We do appreciate the willingness, but this is something we have to do on our own and we will.
Thank you! -
What you are experiencing is unfortunate. As I understand it all is not well at Landair. They have lost most of the sales force including the VP, and the director of brokerage has also left the company. The stepson of the founder also left the company to go to work for another trucking company. With that many departures by people who help put freight in the trucks it stands to reason that the drivers wouln't be getting the miles they need to survive.

More miles does NOT equal more money when you are an O/O. Your husband took home only 3k a month with a 1600.00 monthly truck payment? This was a bad deal to begin with. I hope things are on the upswing since the first post. Those 85-90cents a mile deals will never work in the long run.

So they say, (at least a lot of these lease pur/scams do)
let me look at that
Fixed Costs
Owned or leased equipment
Equipment costs
Depreciation
Return on investment
License fees, insurance, sales tax
Management & overhead costs
Variable Costs
Maintenance & repair
Fuel
Labor
Tires
Lets just skip the brake down, sure keeping you variables low help earn more money.
After passing you fixed for the week then all you have left is the Variables and then profit.
You will bring home more per week if you drive 3500 miles compared to 2500 miles. So I don't really like the comment "more miles does not equal more money" cause as long as you control the variables yes more miles does mean more money.
I am surprised things are going bad with Landair, I have spoke to many drivers there and they all really like the company. To bad, another place a driver can find a good job and be treated right gone. -
This organization is very good at the "scare tactics" They are not very smart....but they certainly like to intimidate anyone who doesn't share the same point of view. Problem is their point of view changes like the wind....very difficult to stay "in the know" with this group.
Best to move on as many have and know that not all trucking companies exist off of their hard working employees. -
Understand that there is legal action pending by some ex-employees that have had pay withheld. Doesn't sound like a very people friendly place to be....unless you're a lawyer?!
-
More legal action planned by another ex-employee next week.
Sounds like a verse from the Robert Earl Keen song...."The Road Goes On Forever, And The Party Never Ends!"
