Wouldn't that be nice.... No more waiting for 3 or 4 hours to get unloaded or 3 or 4 hours for them to even start unloading you. Sounds like a good deal to me.

Haha can't wait to tell my driver that. It'll probably go something like this...

"Listen Bill, the internet is down so I cannot find any loads for you at this moment. Just follow an empty truck for now I'm sure they'll lead you to some freight. K thanx bye. " :p

Yeah, now they charge a bloody fortune, take two or three breaks in the midst of wheeling those pallets off the back of your truck, and if you complain, they'll drag their feet even more. I mean... who ya gonna get to replace 'em?
Can't even unload your own truck in a lot of places now, they've got it all sewn up. Nice racket, there.

I was talking about brokers and the old days just yesterday. Its amazing how overly complicated companies, the goverment, and even we as drivers have made this industry. He was telling me about spending a day hanging out at the brokers/company yards waiting for his number to come up on the board. Also from the stories I hear from him, some of his trusted friends, and many long time trusted friends of mine it sounds like the brokers use to be more civilized towards drivers...to a certain point.

I remember ridding along with him in the summer while he pulled dump bucket. All during this time he was trip leasing with 3-4 companies, hauling sugar beets out of the fields, and a couple of other side jobs. Now-a-days a person would get a bad reputation for working this hard trying to support thier family. I for one think that more and more companies are not wanting to trip lease guys and some are even putting restrictions in the lease contracts so you can't trip lease. My thoughts are if you don't have the freight, I'm gonna trip lease to get me back to your freight...plain and simple.
