Hum? dunno what to think about that.... Sure the driver obviously was being a jerk but did he really bump her like she says? Police did not make an arrest? I would think there would be some kind of evidence like paint scratches or something as such on here car or his truck.... She referred to it as bumper cars? seems a little extreme if there was not even a paint scratch....

Noway am I condoning this in anyway but it just seems a little fishy to me. She sounds like somebody who exaggerated way to much and lied about the actual contact...

I posted about this following to close earlier and let me tell you I don't agree with it..

This kind of reminds me of a lady in Toronto I encountered.. Anybody ever been downtown knows that the road is like 8 lanes wide, I was coming "down" (interstate was lower then the ramp and houses, interstate had 15 foot walls on both sides and you drove down the ramp onto the interstate) I had my turn signal on trying to merge (the on ramp I was on also turned into a off ramp for the next exit) A car slowed down to let me in and I started to merge, I glanced up to check the cars in front of me to make sure they wasn't slowing down and at that exact same moment a lady from the other lane tried to merge into the lane I was already merging into (no turn signal), and she did it right by my drives (you know the so called blind spot), She was trying to get off at the next exit and thought she would just jump in there and cut me off instead of getting behind me, Well when she did that I already had a stear tire over the line and we both was startled a little and she had to put her breaks on to slow down.. She called in saying I didn't check my mirrors and I almost ran her into the dicth because she had to swerve so hard and blah blah blah.... Ditch? there was no dicth, there was 15 foot concrete walls on both sides with a concrete medium wall in the middle.... It was rush hour in Toronto and if she swerved more then 2-3 feet she would of created a 20 car pileup..

Anyways, I just can't believe this driver bumped her car 3 times and there was no evidence of it.. Cops didn't arrest the guy for that reason...

People are strange, heck you have people who admit to crimes they didn't comment just like this freak with the Jon Benet Ramsey case.. Sounds like she made it into a super big deal...

Again the driver was wrong for doing what he did but I surly don't think he bumped her..

I don't blame him or her the way these wannabe race car drivers drive without any common courtesy for big trucks, or anybody else for that matter. I've felt like running a few cars off the road especially the ones that tailgate when theres a open lane right next to them. If I'm doing 70 in the fast lane and the speed limit is 65, and you wanna go faster go around theres no reason for me to move over ever 15 secs for all these WANNABE race car drivers. Butt if I was driving rig I wouldn't ram anybody, I 'd just wait to see them in their accident pose and wave at them as I pass by.....#### EM'

The Walmart manager referred to it as "one our drivers". Sure doesn't sound like any Walmart driver I have ever heard of. Her story sounds pretty fishy, If her car was actually hit three times by a truck, there would be evidence of it, The police would have arrested the driver of the truck if there had been any evidence. The woman's story doesn't add up. And she isn't going to press charges when she has Walmart to go after? I don't believe her story.

I don't either; doesn't add up. Plus the fact that if {Police said a woman followed a man who bumped her car all the way to the store while speaking with 911 operators the whole time.} How did he bump her car all the way to the store if she followed him there?

    Her story is too "clean".

She states she was not speeding and in the "slow" lane, and that the driver wouldn't pass her. I don't buy that for a second.

It's a shame that the reporter doesn't tell the other side of the story.

I know Florida traffic statutes rather well, and the fact that the police were called and no charges were filed against the trucker tells me all I need to know. If you rub paint, and a police report is made, someone is going to be charged with fault and they will get a ticket.

The only way this could have went down is that there was absolutely no evidence that the truck so much as tapped her car.

But, we all know that if it involves a trucker, and it makes the trucker look bad, it's a news story that just has to be offered.

Turbo, I believe you have it surrounded. I'm wishing there were some way to hold these so-called news agencies responsible for presenting blatant BS as fact. Aren't there laws against libel? :biggrin_25510:

Libel is a hard thing to prove, but let's take this example to see how it could have played out.

The story is offered. The trucker is identified in the story. The motor carrier is identified. The driver is fired.

With all of the circumstances being as they were, THEN the driver could possibly seek damages for libel, because he suffered economic harm as a result of false reporting.

As it was, this lady and the desperate reporter for something to sensationalize offered a simple line at the bottom of the story...

"Victoria told Channel 4 she does not plan to press charges, but wanted to let drivers know to be careful on the roadways."

The one person that probably will be more careful out there on the roadways will be herself. She won't be playing games with truck driver anytime soon.

You know...something just occured to me. This happened out on I-295 in Jacksonville, Florida. The supposed ramming of the truck into her car happened on that roadway. There were no witnesses. Now follow my line of thinking here....

I should think that something that would get the attention of practically any driver of any motor vehicle, would be to see a truck bumping into the back of a car, not just once, not just twice, but three times? Cell phones would have jammed 911.

I've never seen that interstate in a deserted condition, where this would go unnoticed. Had the interstate been so devoid of other vehicles, why would the driver ram her car in the first place for her "going to slow"...Passing would be a much better option.

There are not witnesses because it never happened.

There's a driver out there that should have a better impression of the police, and their use of common sense, and not swallowing a charge like this, making rash judgments, and turning it into something that would affect his record.

As for everyone else, this is another example that there are people out there that have a hard-on for truckers, and they will do everything they can to villify them, including charging them with acts that are believable because it does happen. It's the public perception that we have to fight all the time.

I had a man in the middle of the night in Pennsylvania claim I backed over his car, after flagging down a State Trooper. It was like 3:00am on a backroad in the eastern part of the state. He tried to claim that I had rolled backwards on an uphill grade from a stop sign. The guy sure had all kinds of white paint and a crushed hood. It was a fine attempt to have a decent explanation for Daddy, as to why Junior has crashed his car.

The only problem was, the bumper on the rear of my trailer was devoid of ANY white paint. It was pure rust, and none of it had been disturbed on the bottom or rear of it. The officer apologized for stopping me, and assured me that Junior was in deep crap for filing a false report.

Is it even possible for a semi to "bump" a car once with out sending it sideways like a "pit" maneuver? Let alone 3 times?
