:biggrin_25513: It's unfortunate. It really is...When all you want to do is make a decent living. Drive a truck and get on with life...You have to run smack dab into a bunch of low down pole cats like Paul & Dudley, who work for Stiles Truck Lines, out of Pasdena, TX.

Just what we all need....Another truckng company that feels they need to steal from the drivers percentage of the load and even takes the tarp pay and pockets it instead of giving it to the drivers who earned it in the first place! If it was up to these upstanding folks we wouldn't have to worry about log books! Never run out of hours that's for sure! Be running day and night!:biggrin_25521:Inferior Equipment, Can't Give Directions, Can't Treat their Drivers Like Human Beings!! My reccomendation...Run don't walk away from this company!

I know who you are talking about. They got red & white trucks. I always heard David Stiles was a crook.
Think they are bad, try WM Dewey or Five Star Transportation.
There are alot of bad trucking outfits around Houston.

Yeah, I've got another few weeks of school and was looking at the Houston area first.......but maybe not so fast.....thanks for the heads up on Mr. David (Harris County Correctional Facility) Stiles.

Got any tips on any "lesser of two evils", trucking companies in the Bayou City? I'm new, but I'm damnn good.

If you are coming out of a school in the Houston area, with little or no experience, you have to start somewhere. Most companies say they require experience, but some will take you straight out of school.
If you are looking to get your feet wet, WM Dewey is a privately owned flatbed outfit that hauls oilpipe. They offer local, and regional work. They have a website you can look at. One thing good about them is that they do offer a weekly guarantee.
There are also tanker outfits, and gas hauler outfits.
Concrete mixers aren't bad either. I did that a long time. Cemex USA offers year-around work with a weekly guarantee.
Unless you really want OTR, I would stay away from the mega-haulers. You'll starve to death with them. Too much downtime, sitting at docks, waiting for loads, truck repairs, etc.

Got a question for you. This may sound dumb but oh well....What's a Mega Hauler and have you ever heard of Estrella Trucking out of Ft. Worth, TX?

y'all said a mouthful and a half. anyone desperate enough to drive for this company musta been shut out by all the other companies. if you want to be a target for every roadside inspection this is the way to go. watch your csa score shoot through the roof while your bank acount drops through the basement
