May is self insured so it is not about saving money it is about keeping safe.
There are many factors when parking at a truck stop that could keep or wake a driver (ppl walking by, idling truck next to you, reefer running etc.) I can see you complaining about any of them things, but a safety device? You have to be kidding me.
Complaining never makes anything more easy. If you're that light of a sleeper then perhaps instead of gripping like a super trucker you can do something about it! Park some where else?
To me a TRUCKER is someone who gets the job done with out complaint not expecting a pat on the back, it is in fact your duty.

Or the guy could try... what are they... oh... earplugs.
I tell ya, the worst way to wake up is to hear the sound of a fender mirror going "crunch" from some dweeb hitting it with their trailer.....on the sight side.....
Anyway, I always found the ambient sounds at a truck stop to be soothing. I like "white noise". -

to follow up on my last post, i'm not saying you're wrong for hating back up alarms, go right ahead, not saying it's wrong to say you hate them either, everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but don't take it out on the driver. he's just doing his job and trying to make a living just like you are. we all need to respect eachother a bit more, a little respect goes a long way.
Lilbit Thanks this. -

i hate backup alrms--cant stand them--they are annoying as hell--its like fingernails on a blackboard--
but hey--that means they are doing there job---what do you want them to do--play dixie?
if they save one life its worth it---a small child may not recognize when a truck is backing up--maybe that is what will catch their attention--an annoying beep
most industrys require backup alarms --if not a guide when backing into a construction site
i hate hard hats and steel toe boots as well--nother story -
