I can tell you that I thought I was doing alright. It seems, IIRC, I was somewhere between 2600-3200 a week, but then I was all over the place. I know they've started calling things regional, but I really don't know what that means I guess.
Just what are they calling SE Regional? Isn't that a 500 mile radius from, say Charlotte?:biggrin_25525:

The unofficial line that was drawn for me was anything south of Maryland and East of the Mississippi.

:biggrin_2559:I guess that's about as SE as ya can get! You should be able to do decent on that. Once your DBL figures out how you like to run. It's hard for me to relate to "regional".
If it's possible for you, give it a shot, and get some seat time in, then go from there. I personally think you'd get more miles than dedicated. If the regional thing doesn't seem to be working out, see if you could get into regular system, if they still have that.
One thing I learned about these guys. Once you've proven yourself out to be a good driver, they'll do what they can to keep you. :biggrin_25525:

I've only gotten as far as Orientation, so I can't lend much info past that. However, I will tell you that there are some great SNI contributors here that can fill you in. They've helped me out a lot.

RoadRaid3r just pass his SQT's and has his first Pumpkin. Locate his thread titled, "Headed for Indianapolis for Orientation August 7th" and you'll get a lot of good information from his viewpoint.

    Good luck to you!

Hi there driver! Have ya looked around very much? I was never regional, so can't ya much there, but there has been quite a bit lately about it here. Certainly not trying to discourage you in any way, but take a look around, and if there is anything specific, I for one would be happy to help ya out if possible.
I do think ya made a good choice with SNI.:biggrin_25525:

Yes, find my thread "Headed to Indianapolis" and it documents my SNI experience from talking to recruiter to now (picking up first load on Monday).

ROADRAID3R, got a call from my TE last night at 9:30. We're heading out of the Charlotte OC at 8 a.m. on Sunday for Mobile, AL. Already got instructions to have the Trip Plan ready when I meet him tomorrow. I'll post updates on my blog. Enjoy your first week as a solo Pumpkin driver.!

Well week one done driving the truck around town. Practicing upshifting downshifting, making sure to turn at the right time, couple and uncouple the trailer and finally backing up (that was fun). I've got the up shifting (double clutch) down pretty good it's the downshifting that sometimes throws me. I just need more practice.
Yesterday I slowed down getting ready to make a left on a very narrow road. I was downshifting getting ready to turn the corner when out of the corner of my eye I see a care passing me on my left side!! Well that just shocked me and I forgot to put truck into the lower gear and almost ended up turning into her. My trainer calmly told me to push clutch in and he pushed the stick into the correct gear for me, that way I was able to make the corner and drive on. I guess on top of trying to remember the gears and looking to make sure my trailer makes the corner without hitting anything. I now have to worry about crazy drivers who think, that for some reason, can pass me faster then I can turn a truck. It's nice to see though that "most" of the time when someone sees a truck with student driver written on it and it's making a turn they stay clear until you make the corner.
Hopefully next week will be better!! :biggrin_25514:
