Definition of "swerve" : to make a sharp or abrupt action to avoid an object.
If you handle and 80,000lb in a manor of which described above you are not driving safely and 99% of the time it WILL not end well!
If you are paying attention are using your "look ahead" practices, driving for the present conditions, including amish buggies in the dark, then your chances of this happening will decreased dramatically.
If the situation presents itself in that you can safely MANUVEUR around an object posing threat or possibly create a hazard than do so in a safe manor. SWERVING IS NEVER AN ACTION IN WHICH IS DEEMED SAFE OR PRACTICAL FOR USE. SWERVING IS NOT AN ACTION IN WHICH YOU HAVE CONTROL OVER! If you abruptly yank the wheel of a big rig you are now in Gods hands and so is everyone near you.
Should you ever swerve your big rig to avoid an animal..??

I did not have sexual relations with that woman! -
While I wouldn't think twice about running Bambi or Spot down in the middle of the road.
I did make the immediate choice to swerve this week, when the other driver (big truck) rounded the curve in my lane. Lucky for me, there was another lane and no one in it.
I don't know what he was doing...and don't care at this point. -

danc694u yes that is the only time I recommend swerving! Sorry, I tried posting a definition of "swerve" but some still aren't getting it. I guess if you all understood though we wouldn't get to look at big rigs upside down as we drive around! Keep up the swerving guys, remember wheels up! Just stay away from my family!
