I've been reading rumors about this for about a week, and it looks like it's going to happen. Supposed to be announced officially sometime today (8/24/10) or tomorrow.

another limited..."UNLIMITED"
-
i thought so too, but it looks like it really is no limit.
i wonder how that mifi would work in the truck. -
I've looked up and down on their site, read and re-read the TOS, if there is a catch, I don't see it. The only downside is since it's pre-paid, the start up cost is kind of high, because you don't get the modem for free. The Mifi costs $150 and the usb card costs $80.
On any given night in a truckstop, I usually see 1, 2, sometimes half a dozen mifi's out there broadcasting in other trucks. I think they have a range of about 50-100 feet. More than enough to use in your truck. -
you can get the mifi for $120 through walmart.com, and i've read you can return the device if the coverage doesn't work for you.
i tried millenicom's version of the sprint network last year. after setting it up at home i was on the road 4 days without ever connecting again.
according to the sprint coverage map my apt is in the 'best voice' range. i might have to try it out for a month or so. planning on getting a ps3/netflix so i'm gonna need a intarweb at home eventually. -
Thanks for the info, I'd rather get the mifi than the usb card, I run Linux on all my computers and sometimes the USB modems can be a bear to set up. I've had Sprint for about 4 years now, I still have one of the grandfathered accounts. My card is a PCMCIA card though, which severely limits my options when I want to buy a new laptop. -
will this work only on sprint or will it bounce I had a sprint card and it would bounce if it didnt find a sprint tower
-
that i don't know. I have my Sprint card set so it won't bounce to roaming at all, because i'm running linux most of the time and since I'm not running Sprint's software and can't tell if it's roaming. I still have internet probably 364 days out of the year, although it can get pretty slow in some places. I'm not sure if Virgin has the same roaming agreements Sprint does, all I do know is that it uses Sprint's network.

WARNING.......
There is a reason they are offering the plan.Cuz there service sucks.A lot of people are returning there devices.I have the usb device, wish I had read the reviews on the net before I bought it.Too slow.
