Nick I agree........but there is the day to day reality and then there is the "we want trucking safer"....it is truly a hard spot for a newcomer in the industry to be in! Not nagging, not whining, just saying it truly is tuff! My bottom line personally....I want to drive a truck.
Just some of the stupid things I see

The loser that I am on Leave from right now is one of those. As long as his prescious potatoes make it to the chipping plants he could care less. I shoulda let his Gdamn truck burn down in Illinois but my f!##ing reflexes kicked in and I got the fire out and the truck and trailer towed before a trooper rolled by....I saved his axx bigtime. Then less than a month later I blow my shoulder out trying to lower the landing gear enough to get out from under it and Now I've been off work since then they denied me work comp, and now that unemployment is gonna kick in he is gonna appeal. He ran unsafe equipment pushes his drivers too hard and doesnt give a rats. But everyone I know says that I"M being a crybaby cause I wanted to turn his sorry axx in to the DOT. Well the jokes gonna be on him.....drivers safe stat score 96% companies safe stat score 80% they wont be around long with crap like that going on.
And DB I'll pm you the names his truck run under so if they cross your path you can get them for any number of violation logs, no license , under the influence, trailers etc.....I dont know if they run thru your area but at least 3/4 of these guys run however they want and just MAKE the log look legal -
Had another one today that made me shake my head. Stopped a big truck and immediately recognize the driver from a previous stop in which I locked him up for being suspended. He recognizes me immediately and says, "Oh sheet." Well today not only is he suspended in a State beside his home State, he is revoked in his home State. The tags do not match the truck, as it was unregistered. No insurance, No IFTA, no log book, 88000 lbs,etc etc etc. You name it, it was wrong. So after a heavy duty tow removed the truck I removed and deposited the driver at the gray bar motel. Some guys never learn. Hopefully after the compliance review is conducted on the carrier, they will no longer be around either.
outerspacehillbilly, BigSam, sly1 and 9 others Thank this. -
Woot keep up the good work DB. I got to talk to a db the other day in MT. So he pulled me around back looked at my papers and then said lets walk out side. I was like my wt is good I just left the cat scale 30 miles back. I was like great here we go this is going to be fun. Wonder if I overlooked something in my pretrip this morning. He was said relax I just want to show you something on your hood. I was baffled. So we walk on out. And he shows me something. In my rush to clean the windows, scale the truck and get back on the road asap. I didn't get the passenger side latch on the hood latched all the way. He sent me on my marry way.
truckerdaddy24 Thanks this. -
