wiseguy, enjoy the securement training! It was a real hoot... if you see that Southern boy Joey there tell him I beat him and while the two of you are there finishing training I will be under a flatbed load heading to Erie! lol Also let him know that all the U-P-ers are just like Mr. Minominee.... He'll get it... lol
Well, have fun and remember it is the length that is most important not the weight... or is it the weight? lol They are both important... Have fun in Marshfield... later!
Hey Belleye, GOOD LUCK and have fun... Don't forget to BREATHE!!!! -
Thanks belleye, I hope it isn't a heap, as long as it has an APU tho, I'll be happy. As for the fleet, it isn't bad, its older trucks because of Roehl's preplanning. Roehl made a point of buying a crap load of trucks before the new emission laws kicked in, reason for that was because it saves something like $15k per truck. The fleet is definitely showing its age, but the trucks still run for the most part. I'm in a '06 Freightliner with 270k on the clock, not even broken in yet. Even tho its 4 years old, it still does its job and has low mileage to boot. Currently, yes, I believe they are starting to buy some new trucks, 10 brand new Kenworth's from what I was told, but I'm sure it won't stop there. I also heard that they are running low on trucks, flatbed specifically, to the point where they are refitting van trucks into flatbed trucks.
Sum of it is that yes, the fleet is older, however there is good reason for that. But we are in the midst of new trucks coming into the scene, which I have no problem with whatsoever.
Thanks, it ought to be interesting. Got to haul a loaded flatbed trailer today(was preloaded and secured), was definitely different. I don't think my truck liked it much either for some reason. I'll try to remember that stuff for Joey, doubt I will tho.
Anyways, today was interesting to say the least. I got the joy of driving the truck all day without any AC with almost 90 degree temps. I survived, but it sucked. Kicker of it is that while the truck was in the shop last night for a different issue I had, I mentioned that the AC was half ###'d to the mechanic. He somewhat blew me off with it, and low and behold, #### AC goes out the following day. Thanks for treating the driver like an idiot. How bout you get your head outta your ### and listen to the mechanically inclined driver. Hell, I was even able to throw out a word that most people don't know to help my case that I knew what I was talking about. Freon, for your info, thats the technical name for the coolant that is in the AC systems. Anyways, hopefully they get mine fixed before I have to drive it again. Granted, I only have one day left where I might be driving, but still would suck to not have AC. -

LMFAO! So true....just calm down belleye, you're getting so far ahead of yourself that you're already stressing yourself out. You'll get it all figured out, you'll see. Its all simple stuff really, just a matter of getting it all down pat.
As for my AC issue.....just got done getting fixed. From what we've pieced together, my AC compressor burnt up(to the point of changing color and melting o-rings), evidently causing an excess of pressure which then blew out the line to the AC cooler, and also had enough force to break one of the mounting bolts in two, leaving nothing but a tiny threaded portion behind. All I can say is WTF? That to me even sounds like a serious twisted fabrication, but its not. I dunno what happened to that compressor but gees, thats a bit overboard. Anyways, all fixed now, altho I won't have the truck for much longer. -
Hell I'm stressed out just from reading that!!! wow, calm down bro, i assure you the calmer you are the better you will do.. hell making me have a nervous tick lol
-
Slow and steady Belleye, you're gonna give yourself the 'piles'
Once you're on your own you'll have plenty of chances to be in a hurry
-
Dude, you remind me of a student I had once. He used to jump about three feet high out of his chair every time the Qualcomm beeped. Relax, it is just a truck. -
I used to get nervious on Road test. Then One Day the tester told me Ok here's the deal, Don't try to impress me, just show me that when you come to town if my 16 y/o daughter is on same road with you. I can feel ok that you won't be stupid and kill her.
Ever since I just act like tester is a co-driver and we are testing out a new truck. Helps alot.
