As a former member of the freakalicious pierced up inked not "normal" colored haired "punk" (ok not a punk-closer to being rocker chick but yet am VERY country) society I have a few comments to make on this subject. For most, the piercing stage starts out because it looks "cool" or to think they're being rebellious (wasn't either in my case!) and to try to discover who one really is in society. You can't say you weren't young at one point and did stupid things. At the time I got my first fish hook, it wasn't common around these parts. Have been the blacksheep of my family my entire life and will continue to be so. Both my parents were/are very loving, extremely protective (think to the point of SHELTERED), and have had my butt whooped repeatedly (not enough in my book). Was a personal choice. Wanted to be a little different than the hilljacks and got addicted to body mods. Before I chose to remove most, had 28. Chose to remove them because piercings were becoming the norm around here and got tired of cheerleader types going "OMG Did that hurt? That's adorable! I want one!" My folks used to be like most of you with the "WHY??" and the thinking pierced people were just "out there" until I became one of those. Their perceptions change. What I'm getting at is this: Don't judge a book by its cover. You'll never realize what you're missing out on before it is too late. I chose to get inked to ALWAYS be able to remember my roots regardless of where I end up in life. No one in my family knows I have a tattoo. As for the hair, it fit me perfectly! Have always been completely random, outgoing, and crazy plus someone at work was trying to imitate me (imitation is the sincerest form of flattery-NOT) and I knew she wasn't anywhere close to as nuts as I am. ;) It worked and she gave up on copying my look. When my hair was rainbow, more people went out of their way to speak to me than they do now that its normal. Figure that one out! Am one of these people that don't care if you like me or accept me. You either do or you don't.

I don't agree with the school banning the guy but rules are rules. Many workplaces won't look at you if you're pierced etc etc. Luckily, am not in public eye and can make myself as repulsive to the normal people of society as my heart is content. The HS I was at chose to ban people with abnormal hair colors sophomore year but never did say anything about piercings and tattoos. No clue what their rules are now and don't care!

He should be at home watching their two kids while she gets out of the house and enjoys the dance. Before you know it she will turn 18 and be just another "old lady".
