He didn't get arrested for having a million in cash on him, he got arrested for log book violations. The Co-driver/passenger (Jose Javier Perez) was not arrested. We all know it is most likely drug money or money from illegal activity but having large sums of money is not a crime, crossing the border with anything more than $10,000 in undeclared cash is, but not even a felony. A Good lawyer who can prove they earned this money and will pay taxes on it plus penalty might get it back for them. Hell he might even prove racial profiling because the guys were both Mexican immigrants and the first thing that comes to mind is drugs from mexico.

If you "actually" believe he was arrested on a log book violation,
TRR TOS prevents me from further commentary . . . . .

Dude, do you think a lawyer can prove they made that million legally? You must be smoking some of the wacky tabacie that they sold to get the money.
What truck driver has ever made a million dollars cash, in Home Depot buckets? -
Where's the broken law? It was in the trailer. Only problem I see with it is it probably wasn't on the BOL. If it was, there would be no issue. It's part of the load they were hauling. Heck, I've had freight worth as much as $135M in my trailer. Cops didn't bat an eye.
So these guys had paper with denominations printed on it. Big deal. Only law that was broken isn't even a law. It's a regulation set by an unelected group of nitwits who think they can tell you how to drive a truck because someone put training wheels on their desk.
A smart lawyer could have a heyday with this one. What gave the cops the right to open the trailer in the first place? Was there a seal on it they had to break? HOS violation is not PC (probable cause) to open a sealed trailer. Be interesting to see how this comes out...if it is fought in court.
