Now I didn't read all the way through this but didn't the individual that started this disappear 2 years ago? and now this new Lady and her Super one year experienced Hubby making the big training money hasn't been heard from in months. AfterShock did I miss something here? Did grandma Debby come back from the great England beyond and resurrect as some one else?? What happened to Virgil?? Who's on first? Is England back as the Great money making company it has claimed for years?? Am I lost or is it memorex.:biggrin_25523::biggrin_2556::biggrin_2555::biggrin_25524:

How is England to go with for a newbie that needs training and just to get your foot in the door? Being new to the industry, I don't want to lease from anybody (and probably never will).

Read previous posts on about CR, But plan on having a few hours to spend to read through all of them.

    B I N G O!!!

    Two years ago?
    Nope.
    Refresh my memory.
What is this new Lady's name?
    Maybe.
You did admit that you didn't read all the way through this thread.
I'm thinkin' that doctor/patient information is privileged information, so it's hard to know who GrandmaDebi thinks she is now.
Virgil is my hero. Last we heard, Virgil and GrandmaDebi went their separate ways. Their parting was not on good terms.
Seems that GrandmaDebi had a problem with keepin' the left side door closed, sometimes leaving it open for several weeks at a time, leaving Virgil without a co-driver. With no co-driver, runnin' enough miles to make the payments couldn't have been easy.

During one such episode when GrandmaDebi left the driver's door open for a few weeks, Virgil became a driver trainer so he could keep on keepin' on whenever GrandmaDebi needed another month off. But her demanding time off finally reached the point where Virgil came to his senses and replaced her with trainees. Last report was that Virgil is doin' fine now, still runnin' for CRE.

Now, we've all heard how hard it is to make it as a lease driver at CRE. Yet, in spite of GrandmaDebi's antics, Virgil still hasn't failed. If that doesn't qualify him for hero status, well, ..... by golly, ...... I don't know what would.
I'm a recovering NASCAR fan, I'm not really into sticky--bally sports. They're too confusing for me.
According to the CRE advertisements, there is no greater truckin' company on this planet. Those who don't share that opinion obviously have poor work ethics.

CRE is an equal opportunity employer that doesn't discriminate. They'll screw any employee any time there's a profit to be made, --- no matter how large or small that profit may be. CRE stresses Never turn down a load, --- and their motto is Never turn down any opportunity to make a buck off someone else's sweat. Seems to work for CRE.
    Hmmmmmm -----
Without knowing which recording studio put the sound on tape, and who the recording engineer was, it's hard to say. :dontknow::smt112:toothy3::smt037

That depends on which foot you get in the door. If you decide to roll the dice, it would be a good idea to bring crutches to hobble home on, --- just in case the odds don't pan out and you become a statistic in the wannaBees that went down in flames. The odds of that happening are outstanding.
    What makes you say that?

Or, in the interest of time conservation, just read all the good, positive comments made about CRE.
That should take a whole lot less time to read them all.

But, if you're intent on thoroughly researching truckin' companies and insist on readin' everything possible, good-n'-bad, MrFast is correct, plan on at LEAST a few hours. I suggest packin' a lunch and include a lot of snacks before starting to read.
    OH!
And lock the doors, pull the shades down, put a Gone Fishin' sign on the door, and take the phone off the hook.

    WhaT?!
You mean actually read previous posts, or read past the first post?
    WhY?
Isn't it much easier to just read a couple of posts at a thread's beginning, and maybe a couple more posts near the end, then just post questions that were asked and answered about ten times already?

Well, .......... typical man for ya. They're all alike.

    "Adventures"?
Is that what they call it now?
Used to be called sack time.
Whatever, a rose is still a rose no matter what it's called.
Sounds like the thrill of adventure for Virgil is wearing off though. It's a wonder, and to his credit, that Virgil didn't boot GrandmaDebi off the Big truck sooner.
If she were pie crust, that'd be one thang, but flaky and Big truck truckin' don't mix well.

    Virgil is my hero.
GrandmaDebi is, ....................... well, ..................... sort of an air-headed flake.
Oh well, ............... it was fun while the adventure lasted.
    Thanx GrandmaDebi!
    :salute:
    You're a classic. :yes2557::biggrin_25526:

I spent a lot of time at truck stops... Not by choice but I wonder... Why are you stopping at truck stops to listen to drivers gripe? Wouldn't you have to be rolling pretty much non-stop to make that 4000 miles a week?

Do the math Tiger. Hundreds of trucks at a truck stop... A dozen (maybe) in CB range on the road. How many of those have their radios on? Rolling truckers will gripe.. but are more likely to be looking for info, or just keeping their mind occupied. OF COURSE you'll hear whiners at the truck stop. They're broke and bored... But here's some reasons they're there other than simply going broke for fun:
1.Fax service. ( I was the only trucker I know who can fax from his truck.)
2.Repairs (Interstate dist. won't ok drivers to put in a C.B! Self serve?.. no)
3.Parts (how many of us carry tire changing equipment? welders? etc.)
    4.Document scanning (covered that.)
5.Meals (easily done in the truck, granted. But sometimes there's not time)
6.Toilets (How many of us want to crap in our trucks?)
    7.Lack of parking options.
    8. screw it, there's enough to prove my point already.

Service failures can be driver fault, or driver not-fault. Driver fault lates will get you fired. Untill then, a driver WILL be unloved and untrusted... I'm not immune to the occasional rare screwup, but I make appointments. And I was broke driving for CRE

Umm... You're likely to be shut down and jailed by DOT for logging 4000 miles in a week. But an out of service item that results in a DOT shutdown would have resulted in a delay for repair in any event. And after the first DOT shutdown, most people begin checking their rig. I was never even inspected let alone shutdown while with CRE. And I was always broke.

Yep. Accidents cost money... But that's a simplistic answer. I've had a grand total of ONE mishap in 7 years. And I've had 2 tickets in my ENTIRE LIFE. Yet I was being ripped off by CRE from day one.

I wouldn't call 600 miles a small run... I saw a LOT of 100 mile load assignments though. Funny how taking them gets you tagged as a sucker. But consider this: When you take a load, you're bumped to the end of the line for the next one. And consider: Hub miles vs. PCmiler miles. The more shorthauls you take, the harder you're screwed on your performance stats. THAT is money out of your pockets.

After a dozen reps of "terminal" my 14cpm Manager never thought to say: "I sent your permit books to a truck stop, not a terminal" That 5days off screwed me out of 2grand. I asked for a grand total of ONE day off in 6months.. Because it was new year's, and I was in Miami. I was stuck there regardless.

Really? That's not what I hear most often. Want my list?
1."I keep getting heavy or overweight loads" (heavy miles are expensive miles, and are SLOW miles)
    2. "I'm always stuck crossing the Cascades, or Rockies.. etc." (Heavy loads and steep grades are VERY expensive miles. Yer unlikely to see the $1.25 fuel cap stats doing this)
3."My truck is a chunk of feces"- My prostar had it's diagnostic readout disabled. I had to PAY a shop to tell me that my regen system had been dumping fuel into the exhaust pipe. This is when I sent in my termination notice.
4."My D.M. is an idiot".. (My D.M. cost me thousands thru his incompetence. Yet his fleet had the best numbers in the I.C. dept.)

OK coach! Gimme the ball and I"ll make touchdowns... Unless of course the apposing team interferes, then we're screwed. The dreams of success must include the ocean of reality. You're not PAID to drive untill after that magic weekly bill is paid first.. And it's amazing how CRE can come up with 'fees' to ensure that you break even at best. I busted my gear jamming tail running miles, and only broke even by eating hotdogs and ramen for 6mo's.

Another simplistic declaration. Garbage or not a D.M. can't influence a dirty program designed to burn the drivers. I knew exactly what I was doing, and chose CRE BECAUSE I wanted to prove I could do the impossible. I finished my 6mo's and left. But I pity the poor fools who go in there with no experience...

This is the first time I've ever come right out and said: "YOU ARE A LIAR". .but YOU ARE A LIAR. I'm sorry, but I can't sugarcoat this, the bovine excrement is just TOO DEEP.. Reference all the other kind replies from drivers who've done the math.

    You misspelled "driving"
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

CRE has a reputation for a reason. My lack of negative DAC from them is because I run efficient and smart, and keep my tail COVERED! But it breaks my heart when I see zero experience drivers getting into a CRE lease. I'll give a few details on what's going on behind the driver/company barrier.

    1. Fuel surcharges are now industry standard. That means the fuel cost is often largely covered. If CRE doesn't charge one, it's because they don't need to. Their drivers pay for the fuel. Wanna guess how many customers would jump on that? d

    2. What CRE pays per mile is NOT what they charge per mile. That 14CPM "variable mileage" payment is pure ripoff. Their "support" is covered by the overhead vs. income profit. England for example pays standard $0.90 per mile in New York... Yet they're paid as much as $5 PER MILE in NYC.

    3. Estimated Costs they advertise... Are bait and switch. Based on their "fuel cap" program you're given an estimated cost for fuel. But without the fuelcap.. your fuel cost will be about 3x what they tell you.

That driver is paid by the hour. The point of his post is that he makes the same, or more money, running fewer miles. But what he doesn't tell is how many hours he must work to get that $1000 a week. It's all relative.

That seems to be the main jist of every OTR cheerleader on these boards.

I (the cheerleader ie happy to have a job) love the company and since you hate them, YOU must be lazy My beloved company could not possibly be screwing over half their employees on a daily basis becuase they have to, to make the piece work system work. I get everything I want becuase I put everything in storage and became a hobo on wheels to make it work. You people are just haters who are not willing to sacrifice all for the company that pays them minimum wage for all hrs worked. for shame, for shame.:biggrin_255:

Cheers on that.... I've been getting dogged in another thread because I had the nerve to post my numbers... and of course, they suck.... but this idiot says I should have been making 3 times as much, so I must be a screw-up.... long time in trucking, always decently successful in everything, so you tell me?
