First day or orientation. Pee, cough and did a road test. Got to watch someone else in the truck almost take out a 4 wheeler. He made a WIDE right and left the hole open so the 4 wheeler ran in there. the driver turned into the left lane and immediately proceeded to ease back into the right lane without checking his mirrors. The tester yanked the wheel over to miss the 4 wheeler and had the driver pull over. He was done.

I believe so on the sleep apnea. My roommate in the academy had a apap machine. They will want to know your docs info including address and phone number. When you were diagnosed and what you are on. I saw nothing on the BMI and the big guys said nothing about it after their physical.

Day 2. Did the basics mostly. Vids from the CEO and COO. Power point about the company and policies. A CHP came in and told us about how scale houses work, what they look for and what not to do. A recruiter for the ports came in and tried to sell us on lease op to run the ports. Typical recruiter stuff. We asked hard questions and he slipped and slid like a wet eel. Then one of the security guys came in and emphasized on king pin locks, enforcer locks for the trailer doors, high value loads, high load theft areas and a few other things.

there is a mass shortage of mentors so we will be going home tomorrow. Some of us won't be coded until Friday or even next week either. They seem to still be working out the kinks of ramping up the hiring of drivers.

Yup. There were enough academy guys from SoCal to swing that. Probably cheaper for Swift too. Bussing to Fontana is cheaper than bussing to Phoenix. Just harder to get mentors there is all.

    dragonmatrix Thanks this.
