As far as fueling spots in the fuel route...the computer automatically figures fuel by the fuel level you put into the machine at your MT call. If you don't need fuel for the trip, you can go without fueling and complete the trip. However, be careful on your figuring, if you run out of fuel, that is a big service failure. Watch your fuel levels, you can always call your DM and get the fuel location changed, your DM can do this.
In the example you stated...it really wouldn't be any advantage to splash on fuel mid route...but at the other end, if you get a dispatch, keep in mind your fuel position, and generally, if you put into the computer 1/8th less than what you have on board, you can manage your fuel and the computer system more efficiently. By this, you are telling the fuel route/computer that you have less than you actually do...giving you a cushion the computer doesn't figure into the plan.
Hope this helps!Last edited: Sep 6, 2010

a good example of swifts computer fuel route im 50 miles north of birmingham al, im picking up a load in courtland al.which is 32 miles away tomorrow morning going to laredo tx. i sent my macro 10 today and put my fuel level on 0 and the first place they have me fueling is 500 miles away in texas. just wondering why they have us to put our fuel level in when the computer doesnt care how much fuel we have. and this has happened on more than one time. had to message my dm about getting fuel quick.

Never put your fuel level at "0"...computer reads this as you don't need any...always use 1,2,or 3. that should solve that problem...at least it used to!

. How is swiift at getting people home specfic days? (ie request off thursday get
home thursday) I'm currently in the reserves with specfic drill days already
scheduled. From past forum's I got the sense that swift wasn't the best at home time
requests. Is it possible to do regional or decdicated right after training? and the last
question is Are flat-bed and heavy haul avialable only availalbe at certain terminals?
Thanx in advance for your help -
I personally never had a problem being home on a specified day..but not saying nobodyelse has -
to my understanding...Swift has always worked well with drivers in the Guard. It would be your responsibility to make sure your DM stays up to date on your drill requirements. Now during training (time with your Mentor...about 6 weeks) there is a problem sometimes with that coordination, depending on how your Mentor likes to run. Dedicated vs. all 48JustSonny Thanks this.
