I guess all the chest-pounding Libertarian outlaw drivers have never heard about the government paying for the roads they drive their shiny black Peterbilts on?

you mean after they took the money from us in the form of Fuel, Highway use and Excise Taxes. Not to mention permints, plates, and all the other crap you have to buy.

The government didnt pay for jack, we did.

Well, yeah, that's how taxes work. Why don't you get together with all the other drivers who are fed up with paying taxes, build your own interstates and run however you see fit? If government ruins everything it touches, move someplace with no government and dirt roads, build your own interstates and have a Libertarian outlaw paradise. I'll stay here. I've visited other countries where they have higher taxes and much worse roads, and I kind of like the idea of keeping the meth-heads off the road via drug-testing and such.

No need to be rude, I was merely pointing out the obvious. Tax dollars pay for the roads. If you don't like it, don't use them. It would be really great if the government would foot the bill for the roads, but we could do whatever we wanted on them, but in real life it doesn't work that way.

So the government hypothetically completely gets out of roads, highways, interstates. What happens then? Do you think whatever corporate entity ends up buying them up will let you do whatever you want on them? You'll still be paying someone for infrastructure whether it's the government or another entity, and they'll be able to have a say in whether you smoke marijuana, exceed the speed limit, run overweight, etc. Unless you are wealthy enough to buy your own personal highway.
