That's what all the onerous regulation is trying to accomplish. Much of it is wrong-headed (mostly because the people charged with the regulating have never been a truck driver or know anything about the industry beyond the numbers), but it is the bottom line. The public wants the idiots off the road just as much as we do, and what you see is the government's response to those demands.
The most useful thing we can do as a group is to write respectful---but factual and pointed---letters to those people explaining why what they are actually doing is counter productive & etc.
Just blasting them as idiot jerkwads will accomplish nothing but make them feel they are justified in putting it to the industry.
Guaranteed: If the top people in politics received a flood of such mail, they would investigate the claims. And finding them to be true would take action accordingly. Nobody likes to look ignorant.

wasnt trying to be rude---i would rather have the people who are idiots off of the road than somebody who may be running hard ---and knows what he is doing

I spent 30 seconds on Google "doing my homework" and Florida's transportation budget is almost 7 billion. If you have any questions you should e-mail Gov. Crist, http://www.flgov.com/opb_office
and if there's any Stimulus money going towards roads, it would be listed here: http://www.recovery.gov/Pages/home.aspx
Still wondering what kind of "Free Market Alternative" there is to the Dept. of Transportation. I'm all ears.Boardhauler Thanks this. -
I cant believe what i'am hearing, all the gov regulations in the world will not make the roads safer, the problem in my eyes is, 1 all the drivers with no or little exsperiance behinded the wheel, elogs medical cards/history or anything else will not stop crashes, why because most crashes are caused by the car driver not the truck driver, thats reason 2, the one and only reason the big push for elogs is because the big outfits want the little guys gone and to level the playing field. You guys like all yor regs good you keep em but when they come back to bite all of us in the butt then you will think twice.

I am in this country because I like this country, because this is the land I love, and yes I have been other places. Not only that but I am a Veteran.
I can also proudly say there isnt 1 day since I got my CDL that I have not been able to pass a whiz quiz, so before you go arbitrarily trying to paint me into a box, you should really see who in the hell you ar talking to first.
No, I pointed out that tax dollars pay for roads, you went on a great pollyanna everything is great with government soapbox tour.
I still dont recall where anyone said they wanted to smoke a bunch of refer and roll down the road severly overweight at a high rate of speed. You are certanly pretty fast to swing that broad brush of yours arent you.
Here is a thought, what if the government actually put all the taxes they collected in the name of the roads into the roads. Wouldnt that be a fine idea instead of tax tax tax away then get by with the bare minimum they can. California is a great example of this, have you ridden over Donner lately? Not such a smooth ride.
Myself, I wouldnt mind paying the taxes so much if the government actually used them for what it was suposed to. But instead, it collects the money spends it with the frivality of a 16 year old girl with daddy's credit card while he is out of town and all of her friends are around.
Then when they need to spend money on the thing they were suposed to have collected the money for in the first place, they have to borrow it... From China.dino6960, ky wildcat 4ever, 112racing and 1 other person Thank this. -
