Obama Offers $50 Billion Transport Building Plan

Nice pissing match we have going on in here. As far as states paying for bridge work, they only pay for what they have to maintain. Any bridge on a US Highway or Interstate is the Feds' responsibility.

Thank you for clearing that up for me. Now I understand the logic behind them building a new pedestrian overcrossing right next to the old pedestrian overcrossing on US 50 in Sacramento. IIRC, I think I vaguely remember that big sign that states it's being built under the American Reinvestment Recovery Act. I should have figured this out on my own though, because it's absolutely ridiculous to build one next to the other, but now that I know it's the Federal government that's involved, it's all beginning to make sense to me now.

 

Maybe each bridge is going to become one way traffic?

I in favor of fixing the roads and bridges have you been across the cross Bronx lately? However I do feel that the outrageous tolls should pay for that. The non toll roads need work to. The bridges scare the sheet out of me.

 

however they spend every penny they can, it's destroying the country. may as well have some nice smooth roads and bridges to drive on. if not this, they will find something else to spend it on.

 

Agreed, we need to either draw down or else pull out of the Middle east entirely, that would help with reducing the amount of Spending we do. We could also down size the military and reduce military spending by 25%.

States???? Their bridges often effect ALL of America in one way or another, thus I don't mind helping..even on bridges I will never drive on..
