i vote for a no idle section! and that includes generators... those #### things starting up and shutting off can be almost as bad as someone idling next to you all night.
i'd rather have 90 degree parking, so long as you actually have enough room to get a full size truck backed into the spot. I hate angled parking for some reason, unless you can pull through.
and a selection of food that includes things that arent deep fried.
more showers.... and free! i dont mind mark ups on products, but as mentioned, there are some things you just shouldent have to pay for. parking is definatly one, and i believe showers are right close up there too.
What should the perfect truck stop be like?

I agree with all of the above. Remember at I75 ga fl state line next to the chrome shop,we had the bikini girls there outside washing our trucks outside barefoot on the hoods roofs ,inside and out, detailed clean trucks with great memories to leave and return for another cleaning. They provided us with beach chairs to watch and make sure they did a great wash and clean job. Gee maybe the chippendales might be there now, girls. On a serious not,I would like the vans, reefers, legal flatbedders, oversize flatbedders, and hazmat loads together in separate spots. Newbees could look and learn alot and talk and mingle with each other. have picnic tables in between trucks to sit outside to mingle or smoke with your newfound friends and old friends too. Have 6 inch post, yellow or flourescent around tables for safety. well lit,on nice nights you could read outside and relax out of that truck. most of all,at the rear of the parking lot have a swap exchange trucking flae market with new and old stuff. A cb shop there also. With no junk whatsoever for sale, just good clean stuff, like truck seats etc. that would be a complete truckstop, with security cameras everywhere. If some one hit your truck you would not have to worry about it,and get that person that did it to be responsible before they run out of there. I use ta tk stop exclusively,ta can tell by my cards, I should get idle air free at all ta's,i notice their putting them in at alot of ta's,be good if that's what they are doing now, maybe I'll have a surprise soon.

I think they need a truck stop with a big lake or river right next to it so's driver's can go and do some fishing and the truck stop furnish the fishing pole and so forth, if your dreaming might as well dream big LOL

10/4 ON THE BIG LAKE TO GO FISHING,MAYBE A BAIT SHOP WITH BOILED

I suspect it's more that said dingbats pour out their P-jugs. Though I've heard of certain types that'd actually drill a hole through the floor of the sleeper, and equip it with some sort of ?funnel? so the co-driver.... Nasty, I know. I Dig Aussie's ideas! Only improvement would be hot-tubs, and swedish bikini-team moonlighting as a massage therapist.

I watched a guy in front of where i was parked for the night take a gallon bottle of pee and pour it in between his drives. As he was standing there looking innocent I could see the puddle forming around his feet. Finally he does this little dance and gets back in his truck. At least I got a pretty good chuckle out of it even though a lot of drivers just dont seem to care about the next one to come along

In this day and age its the shareholders looking at the bottom line for maximum investment return that seems to be running this country.Truckstops are just another example of this generic world we have created in the last few decades. Drive through any town and see the same stores,in the same shopping centers, with the locals spending their hard earned buck on the same chinese made junk.
Drive through Texas, and there is no barbeque at the pilot, just a subway. You cant get boiled peanuts in Ga. just wendys Roasted oysters and mudbugs in La?....just another taco bell. couldn't even find any cheese at the truckstops in Wi. My personal solution is I carry a bicycle in my upper birth, and find places to park when I can to go to places where you cant get a big truck. Most of the time I can find local food, and see things you just dont see from the truck. -
This is my idea, have enough lanes so there isn't a big backup while fueling, attendants to check and air your tires, chk lube in your hubs, fuel you up,then along the same lane a drive thru truck wash, your truck is cleaned bottom and top of salt etc.,then you have your choice of drive thru fast food, mcds, burgerk,ky fr ch,popeyes ,pizza, you order and pay, drive a little further get your food, and continue to parralel parking,no backing up,straight forward in and out, idle air in place, coin operated right from your drivers window, also take dollars. may eat inside or in your truck,oh yea, bathrooms and showers near where you park,so you don't have to walk really far. cold drinks or coffee free for fueling there. Just imagine,if a few drs and lawyers got together and built one,the other big stops would be scrambling to get your business. That to me is the ultimate tk stop.
pappalion Thanks this. -
This is a real question, is a shoe shine really important? I am working on a business plan for the ultimate truck stop. If it is important we need to try to figure a way to do it,.

The perfect truck stop would be if they were all like "Truck Town" in Fontana, California or the "Mount Eagle" truck stop in Tenn.
