jumping out of the moving truck?

If you can make it out without getting caught by part of the rig then you probably won't survive being run over by other motorists!!!

Give it a test and let us know how it goes though!

 

I suppose if you have the presence of mind, the reflexes and the agility to jump once your mind processes all the factors in play... You could conceivably survive a doomsday scenario by jumping. Food for thought, but not very realistic i should think. I do appreciate you're thinking outside the box as it were though.

 

I can't believe that a school would even teach this. Why doesn't this CDL school teach how to avoid such situations so you don't have to do something stupid like jumping out of a truck. Common sense should always be used and an option like this would have to be the very last option I might have. By the time you evaluate the situation it most likely would be too late or over. But I'd bet you'd get killed more by jumping than staying with the truck. It may be thinking outside the box but in my opinion it's wrong to teach such a thing in CDL school.

 

I don't think the school was teaching attrintal this manuver. Just general discussion of situations where yerskrued. Is that right attrintal?

The safest place should be behind the wheel of the truck with a seat belt on, I have yet to hear about a driver jumping out of the truck. Safety First!

i think you would stand a better chance of survival if you stay "belted" in the seat. jumping out can get you killed, especially if for whatever reason the truck flips over and lands on YOU..........

as a "trained professional" you should be able to "see" enough ahead of you to make an intelligent decision, like slow down, maybe turn the wheel, maybe "gas on it", maybe pay attention to the road and not the cell phone, maybe some other things.

i'm just glad you asked "why not just jump out of the truck?", and not the instructor saying that. heck, if you were to jump out, that vehicle is out of control, and if you are/were able to survive, but someone else gets killed, or mamied, you could face severe charges, so severe in fact, that you'd wish your truck flipped over and killed you.....!!!
