BB King....sorry to hear that....i just went thru that same scenerio with USA Truck....when you are ready to put that bad experience behind you call Erin # Hill Brothers (402) 331-2503 Ext 227....tell her Terry in Truck # 2329 told you to call....awesome, smaller (300 trucks) family operated...treat you as a REAL person.
Home time is as important to them as it is to us. First truck for me, a Volvo 780 with an APU unit...not sure where u are located but definately worth a call...2600 to 3000 miles a week....but most important is they don't treat you like a second class citizen. Let me know if you talk to her.....tlc4uqt

Ive had a very successful career at Stevens. You guys that think every thing is supposed to be given to you are starting the wrong career. IF your to weak to put in your time and finish the program then whine somewhere else.If you cant take a little difficulty and buck it up,then your in the wrong field. Its what you make of it.Its tough your not gonna be given anything. But Stevens offers some of the best training in the industry,if you have the discipline to get through the program. The weak ones dont make it.quit whining and go work at Mcd's.If you work the program,do what your supposed to do,that doesnt include whining about every little thing then you can make some good money with this company. All you guys think they are gonna give you the best loads your first week out.You havent proven anything to anybody at that point. You have to earn that.the dispatchers trust, managers trust etc etc.Quit whining and go suck on your mothers teet.We dont need you at Stevens anyway.
venne and Emulsified Thank this. -
By the way i am a trainer also, and i beliieve a #### good one.Ive never had a student get off my truck. And im very proud of that record.Every transportation company in this industry has its horror stories. But if you want to run miles,(2500 miles has been my worst week in three yrs.)and have what it takes.i.e. a tough skin short memory and dont expect anything to be handed to you on a silver platter that this is a good company to get your start with. And no im not a recruiter. if anybody wants the true scoop ill answer any question you have honestly.
lyvenne Thanks this. -
Hi Kirk
I am considering Stevens myself and had a question or two for you if you don't mind.
first i was wondering if you went through their training program, and what you would have to say about it?
also in your opinion would you say that they reward the hard workers generally?
thanks so much for your time

All you guys that cant hack it and want to whine about every little thing are choosing the wrong field.Yes recruiters stretch the truth, yes this is a tough career.Nothing is gonna be given to you,you have to take your lumps and start at the bottom just like at any company.Ive had a very successful career at stevens transport. The fewest miles ive driven in three years at this company is 2300 miles.Usually over 2800.So if you have a strong disposition, dont lie on your applications,i.e. criminal record, job record, drug record, etc and are strong minded, and can take a little crap to pay your dues then this company is a good place to start your carreer.Yes we dont get the highest pay per mile but we run more miles on the average than any company on the road.I talk to a lot of drivers on the road, and very few of them make any more money than me.So if you dont expect anything to be given to you and can handle the program Stevens is a good company. And no im not a recriuter.will answer any questions honestly.
venne Thanks this. -
Gydrick, yes i went through their program, its tough, they are not easy on you by any stretch of the imagination. The reason for this is pretty simple if you cant hack the training and all the time they are gonna spend on you they want to weed you out early, they need drivers that can handle being on there own for long stretches, long hrs short pay and unforgiving conditions. But it can be real rewarding at the same time. And yes if you run hard dont whine take the good with the bad,you get rewarded with miles.IF your looking for pats on the back choose another profession.Last edited: Sep 24, 2010
venne Thanks this. -
lol no not pats but miles would work for me

Gyrick im not gonna lie to you this is a tough job.90 percent of new guys dont make it past the first year.If you can make it past that, your probably gonna make it.Im happy here, yes i stay out for 5 wks. at a time, but im a contractor and have a little more freedom.I take 7 to 10 days off every 5 weeks. But if you want to run Stevens has the miles.Yes you have to wait on meat loads, get use to it.But so what if you then have to run 1600 miles in three days. You needed to rest to run those miles anyway. Some guys just dont get it.So what you had to sit a day.like i said my worst week in three years when i ran solo was 2300 miles. If you learn the game, dont whine, take the good loads and the bad loads, show up on time,i.e. build your reputation youi will get as many miles as you need. And as far as these companies that say,oh we will pay you 36 cents a mile so what if they are only gonna give you 2000 miles a week if that your still making more running for Stevens.Good luck to you my friend
