I wanna give my thanks to the Volvo dealership in New Haven, IN just east of Fort Wayne. They were super courteous both in the parts and service dept.
There was dust in my dash so that when I hit a bump, i would get dust that I couldnt see, but feel in my throat. The service manager offered to have one of his techs remove it for FREE. He basically put a air pressure hose to it and took care of the problem.
I've been a bit shell shocked from dealing with the 'shady folks' in Atlanta, that I found these folks absolutely refreshing!!!
With a more reasonable labor rate of $75-$79hr. (not sure which it is) I decided to have them replaced a hub oil cap on my steer. The tech had the work complete before the Servince Manager could even get the paperwork finished. And when the parts manager brought the bill to service dept, the service manager sent it back to have him lower it!!! Unbelievable!!! It was a totally awesome experience and would certainly return there to have work done!BigBadBill and HwyPilot Thank this. -
I'll have to stop through there when I get the chance and check it out. Turns out there's a few Volvo dealers out there who remember that their business is supported by customers! Whenever I run across someplace decent, I try to make the time to bring them all the business I can.

AMEN!!! For the Love of GOD!! ,TA is a tire repair shop period! N YOu will pay Dearly ....
I will say this for TA, they are THERE, WHEN getting robbed a little is better than sitting n loosing a lot
I think this thread was intended to give guys access to LOCALS ONLY info,,ya know.. THE SHOPS often just a MILE or so away from the RIP off half wits at places like TA.
PLaces like OHIO Trailer, in warren Ohio who give ya top quality fast work for half the cost , jeeze more like 1/4 the cost of doing buisness at a Big Name. ALDos in Orlando who will pull rebuild and reinstall ya an ism cummins for $5000, with a one year warranty. Do a clutch for $1000, instead of $2500 to $3000.. Places like that.... MY gosh a list of those places would make a HUGE impact in the quality and income of drivers everywhere...
while rewarding small buisness owners who give a #### enough to do quality work..at realistic rates. -
FYDA Freightliner is one of the greedy ones. And not very good either if you ask me.
Been fighting an overheating problem and an EGR code about all summer. They just throw parts at it without solving the issue.
This weekend under warranty they are replacing the charge air cooler. I'm replacing the radiator also in hopes of fixing the overheating problem since thernmostats and water pump hasn't done it yet. The EGR and Turbo have also been replaced. I offered the radiator job to them while they had the thing torn apart with the charge air cooler being replaced and they still tried to get me for $700.00 in labor. Fine, they can swap out the cooler but I'm buying the radiator and having the work done elsewhere for about $400.00 less. -

Just had THE worst experience with a repair shop that was listed on the NTTS site. Only recommendation to be made is stay as far away from this one as possible.
Vic's Truck & Trailer Repair of Texas, Inc in Orange, TX.
Unethical and price gougers are the two nicest words that can be used to describe this shop. First quoted repair of left front steer hub and bearings at $3,100. Found the parts needed ourselves and had them shipped to the driver for less than $800, from the same supplier that the shop uses!. Called Peterbilt to see how long it would take to install this and was told 3.5 hrs. Figured to pay for 4 hrs labor. This is where it gets REAL interesting. The driver timed the mechanic and it took 2 hrs to complete the job. However, the shop/mechanic tried to bill for 6 hrs $75 an hour!
EXCUSE ME!!! That's like driving a load 100 miles and trying to get paid for 1000 miles. Obviously, bill got paid as the truck was under a load. But this matter is being pursued through the appropriate channels. This is not over by any means.

What was the total bill, $3100 or was it the labor of 75.00 # hour plus your parts that you shipped?
