I am looking at this outfit delivering fuel. Home daily 50-55k a year, great benefits. I HAVE all the endorsements, but have NEVER hauled fuel/tanker before.

Any thoughts from all you tanker-yankers, especially looking for input from fuel haulers...wondering what the job is like hauling fuel. Is it back breaking labor hauling those hoses around?

    Thanks,

    David

I haven't hauled fuel, but I've hauled water. Not as bad as what you may have heard. Quite easy actually.

It's not hard work .. Both chemical and some fuel tanks are smooth bore which means no baffles so more surge

Fuel tanks normally run 3 in hoses but mainly are a bulk or metered drop not hard at all

Take it from an "old man", when you consider home time with pay, you can't go wrong with hauling fuel. I did it several years and it was one of the better jobs that I have had. I worked 4 days and off 3. Made around $1000 per week.

I pulled tanker for Air Gas ( Co2 ) ... Easiest "full time":biggrin_25525: trucking job I've ever had, home daily, loaded one way, empty back. 60k plus a year. Ive
talked to many fuel haulers that say the only down side is being outside in the weather while unloading. With Co2 we were allowed to sit in the truck while unloading. With fuel they have to be within so many feet of the hoses while unloading, rain, sleet or snow.

This will be one of the best fuel jobs you will find. Great people, good mgt and great or the best equipment.
If you are going to haul fuel f/j, pilot(now f/j), and loves are the best places to haul fuel. Any time you are running back to back loads to the same truck stops instead of conv stores you have it made.
So easy you may fall asleep. Hoses are no problem if done correctly, i have seen drivers haul fuel hoses in white shirts and come home with white shirts

    go for it dude

The only bad part is you have to work your way through the ranks to get a day job.

That and the one possible survivable wreck is now not survivable. KaBoom!

There are not many wrecks in the nation compared to the total fuel loads hauled that result in a fatality of the driver. So to assume that the survivable wreck is now unsurvivable is just screaming fire before the fire. Just a little extreme but to a small degree you have a point. No need to freighten someone so fast.

I've been hauling fuel for about 3 months now, the work is not hard at all, the hoses are only heavy when full of fuel an the only time I have to mess with a hose full of fuel is when the compartment is empty an im picking it up to dump out the remaining fuel left in the hose. An yes as JUST LOVE TRUCKING stated once you get your routine done, you really can wear a white t-shirt to work an keep it that way!! But on bit of advice I was given an used.....carry an extra change of clothes, because eventually will end up taking an unwanted shower in it...My connection had a slow drip coming out an dumby me went to messin with the dog ear connection to adjust it and next thing you know, I have a four inch hose in my hands pouring out dyed diesel...needless to say I was soaked head to toe!!! But I learned a lesson!!! Just glad I had my change of clothes!! But even with that happening, I still love the work. Out in my area it's all common carriers. Pay kinda sucks, but it's still a pay check, an your home everyday. We have a guy who use to haul for Flying J, but they pulled their truck outa here, an so he had to find another company. He said pay was alot better with Flying J.

Thanks for all the input! Keep those cards and letters coming! I am already local, hauling dry van, but for no money...hence why I am looking elsewhere!

    Thanks Again,

    David
