OK, so I hate rumor.
I got my pre-hire today from Roehl. I graduate on Thursday and Big Red is #1 on my list.
Now here is the rub.
A former student who got bounced back has passed info that just about half of the applicants were sent home after failing a "Stress test".
I'm 50+, a bit heavy but passed my med easily with a good HR and BP and my labs were great.
Do you have to be a 20 something marathon runner or should I be OK. I just don't want to waste any time getting bounced and not employed.
Thanks,
Max

The test is related to your heart rate following a set of exercises.
Try this link, I think it is what you might be looking for.

I am 49 5'10' 183. I also was worried about the test. I read that most failed caring the weight. So I started working with a 83lb block. Got so my HR was just above 130 for a 240 ft carrie. Had my DOT exam and passed. 3 weeks later I am at school and go to do the stress test and my BP is too high. I fail. Never started the stress test. Hit up the Doc on tuesday and by wensday my BP and HR are much lower with meds. Now working with my block for 240 feet my HR is 83 and my BP stays well within normal. I do get to return and try the test again, and this time I am sure it will not be a problem. I just wish I would have gone to my own Doc before and had my BP checked out with explaining to him about the test and the guidelines.

Im a 50+myself and had the stress test done about 6months ago when i got hired with Shaffer. if you can lift 50lbs waist high and do some walking carrying 50lbs about 30ft you will be fine. they have you wear a wrist heart rate indicator and yur heart rate needs to stay within a certian range(cant remember what it was). but if you are average strenth then dont worry,u will pass fine.

I am 42 had some minor heart problems a few years ago. I have high blood pressure, well it was, on meds now and things are better. Anyway, I had to take the prework screening in March, after returning from surgery. I too was very worried about it, but it really is not that bad. First don't stress about it before hand, stress alone will raise your heart rate as much as 10-15 beats per minute. Try to get a good night sleep before the test, leave the caffine alone for a couple of days before the testing, and you will be fine. It really is not that hard. I am overweight, and out of shape, like most drivers, and I passed Roehl's test. Good luck.

Thanks Mr G. I'm going to start using some of these tests as a workout regimen!

I'm 54, 235lbs and passed. To be honest I believe more people are let go because of their attitude more than the stress test and just don't want to admit it. But in short, trust me, if I can pass you can pass.Maxxdad Thanks this.
