I just tell them the same thing, no CB, but as far as leaving after however many hours, that is not up to me, if it was, I wouldn't ever go there again anyhow.
I have had 1am appointments, don't get called back until 4am, and not done till 10am. I just hate them, I keep hoping someone goes postal there and burns the place down.

I know it's not the drivers at fault for the wait times, it's the companies. I driver for a small company the mainly hauls the product they make, but when slow season comes we haul water for Nestle. The company I drive for doesn't like to pay me to sit and surf the net. With the JIT shipping of today, most warehouses want and need what you have in back. Only takes a few times of paying for the shipping twice and detention to understand the 2 hour rules.

I never heard of a good AWG!

Sabine in MO said it. AWG in KC blows. I have had the same amount of luck (or lack there of) as he. Almost exact same scenario. However, I have been to the AWG in Springfield, MO and I was in and out in under an hour. Then again it was unloading THEIR brand and it was all the exact same stuff. 32k lbs of root beer. So long story short if its an extremely easy load thats one product and does not need to be downstacked, or re-palletized its gravy, other than that its a terd.

9/20 HAD A 01:30 Appoinment arrived 12:30 went into staging, waitied for them to call my card #. 03:45 fianly here #3X called, got to my door, sat there till 07:30 for 6 skids to be offloaded. When i asked the 'cow' behind the glass in the office, why did it take 6 hrs? All i got was the shoulder shrug. Thanks for costing my company a $100.00 late fee a the next appoinment, as well as putting a day behind on the next loads... Your lazyness breaks the chain.

ONCE, I've been to this ###### place ONCE!!!!! Never again. It was back in 2000, the railroad screwed the pooch and put one of their loads on the wrong train and sent it to Denver. The appt. was for 7 am on a Weds., I was on vacation that week, my boss asked me to come in an run it. I said ok, big mistake.
Went to a baseball game the night before, the wife dropped me off at the yard after the game and I left. Pulled into their lot at 3:55 am and checked in, by luck , they had three reschedules so they put me in a 4am slot. Awsome, things were looking up.
NOT!!!! 48' van with adult diapers, floor to ceiling, wall to wall, entire trailer, slip sheets. Oh and the slip sheets were mixed adult male and adult female. Bumped the dock at 4:05, checked in with receiver, lumper comes out about 4:45 am, tells me it'll be $180. I show him the corporate check, he says no checks, comcheck only. Sorry pal, we only use corporate checks or credit card. Comes back 15 min. later and says it'll now be $205, $25.00 surcharge for using a corporate check. Nope, we haggled, he agreed to take $190. He says he'll be back when they are unloaded to collect check and then will bring me my paperwork. I locked the doors, closed the curtains, and crawled in the sleeper. Heard the dockplate hit the trailer floor at 5:05 am.
Now, we have to make 2 hr check-in calls with dispatch. I left the boss a VM at 5am telling him what was going on, if he didn't hear from me by 6am, then I was going into detention and I was going to sleep.
7am I go in to use the facilities and check on progress, they are 1/2 done. Awsome, called in to let dispatch know and I went back to sleep. 11:15 am, knock on the door, lumper says they are done. I write the check, he gives me a receipt, says he'll be back in 10 min.. 30 min. later I go looking for him. He went home. The trailer was unloaded, but the pallets weren't tagged, nor had they been checked by the receiver. If I wanted to leave, I would have to help them tag each pallet and wait for the reciever. 2 pm I finally left, 10 HRS, 10 ###### HRS I was at this place.
Called and told the boss, they put a stop payment on the check, they were refusing to pay the entire amount since we got screwed over. The forwarder whined, the lumper company threatened to sue. Oh, and Associated refused to pay the 8 hrs of detention charges. Their reason, because I was able to take 8 hrs off (this was when we only had to show 8 hrs off), I was legal to drive so they didn't think they had to pay it.
It took 5 mos. to get this mess sorted out. We've since turned down probably a dozen loads to this place since then. The only one as bad, Peyton's in Fountain, Colo.
