I've done Brooklyn/Queens/Yonkers/etc, but never Manhattan, and to be honest, don't care to. But I don't mind the burroughs and LI.
Only problem is now, since we've gone to e-logs, you can lose a bunch of time in traffic just going through the area on 95, so I'm not as accommodating to doing it like before. But I also don't run that area very often, so the occasional foray into NYC isn't bad...and it does pay extra, along with terrific food!

Having done the "3 majors"., Ny La and Chicago... I will say prefer La. Reason for that is i have family in the La area and know it pretty well. I figure i will eventually go back to NYC. Chicago? It isnt to bad, if you know where the low clearences are. I figured another way, if you don't have a map is to call someone like O'Hare towing. They can tell you where most, if not all low clearences are...

OR they "goof" and send you down one anyway and are sitting there waiting for you to "pop a top"!

And now for your amusement watch this 11'8" bridge get some business!
Just be sitting down, no liquids in hand or mouth and actually the seat belt being on will keep your arse off the floor trying to laugh it off!

Keep in mind, some of the drivers from the west coast have never even driven Los Angeles, Seattle, San Francisco...some think that Boise or Salt Lake City are big cities! It is quite an experience to finally get to see parts of this country that they have only read about or seen pictures of, or seen them in movies. Now add in the "scary" reports of people jumping on your side steps and threatening to rob you right on the street...the horrible traffic congestion, the excessive tolls to get across the GW Bridge...and the low clearances....can become quite the terror if one over estimates the experience!REDD Thanks this. -
Detroit is also bad for low clearances.
