My husband is about to be starting with Melton very soon. There is no training because you have to have at least 3 mos experience. There is a 4 day orientation where they teach you how to tarp, strap, chain, etc...Are you going to be driving with them soon?
-
well ive got about a year to go till im ready to go. im just looking at companys right now. i see that TMC puts you out with a trainer for a few weeks just so you can get the hang of whats going on. ive got another question, how is there pay? can you expect to bring home 700-800 a week or is it much less?
-
Well the pay scale looks pretty good and they pay $40 to tarp. He hasn't started there yet so I dont know how true it is but they do say that the "average" is $1000 /week. Our experience so far with Werner, $700/wk is really $100/wk so who really knows lol. I hope so because we have already lost our house over it. I'll let ya know. His 1st day at orientation is Nov 1

ok thank ya, and im sorry about your home

There may be better flatbed companies !!!

I see that Melton has frightliners, if your an OTR driver going all over the country will you be put in one? or a KW or pete? ive seen the KW's and pete's but never a freightliner and would surely hope your in a KW or Pete. just a question????
-
From what I've heard they are all KW's
-
I've seen some pics of frightliners, i was just wondering
-
Not to be dumb but what does it matter what truck they put you in?
When you start out with them your trucks not going to go any faster than 65 ,or 62 dont remember which, so a freightshaker or kwhopper will both do that.
I agree that I don't believe they give you a trainer either. The $40 tarp pay is correct and almost all of the loads are tarped.
