I drive for a small fleet. I have seen many articles on CSA2010. My company doesn't seem to be much concerned about it. Should we really be concerned about CSA2010? I mean for a small fleet?

If your company is not concerned about CSA2010, GET OUT!!!!
-
If you run compliant, have safe well kept equipment, no, there is no reason to be concerned, why should you?
-
Have you looked at your safestat for the company? If it's like mine it is so low that they have done things right for so long that they don't have to be concerned.
-
I disagree with your statment. Everyone has to fear CSA 2010. I had no fear of it 3 months ago since my record was clean. My score went from I believe 29 to 96 in less then 2 months.
1) Driver blew a tire in Ohio on a scale, vehicle out of service.
2) Speeding 68mph in 60mph zone
Hows that possible when the truck is governed @65mph?
Easy drop from 13 to 12th gear and you can exceed 75mph
I never knew this.
3) Log book violation, honest mistake by the driver however he was
placed out of service.
3) Over weight by 1,500 pounds on drives gross weight 74,000lbs
No weight scales between shipper and DOT Scale.
4) Speeding in Ohio 57mph in a 55mph zone.
5) Maxi blew on scale vehicle placed out of service.
6) ABS light on
7) Over weight in Indiana by 3000lbs on drives. Driver is a "Idiot" he
thought because the load was 39,000lbs he would be fine. Company
policy is to weigh your vehicle every time, better to pay $11 then
$300+
8) Driver got pulled over in NY state. Was placed out of service. Driver
licence suspended for none fine payment 5 years ago. However in
Ontario Can he had a clean driving history. Our drivers give us a copy
of their drivers abstract every 6 months.
Like I said from 29 to 96 points in matter of 2 months. Yes I'm getting nervous. -
He said compliant. By your own admission your drivers have been far from that.
I wonder how often I hear "It blew going into the scales"
There is no excuse for speeding.
Scaling is your concern. They make truck scales, you choose not to use them
Their are neither honest nor dishonest mistakes in logging. You are in compliance or you are not
Driver failed to pay a ticket. He knew he received it, my guess is he tried to pull what drivers used to do and go get a license where they could hide their record. It was on you to demand all licenses held in last 10 years
Upon examination I would say you should be nervous. You are well on the way to an audit, or intervention.Markk9 Thanks this. -
I was I-10 westbound driving across the desert in the heat of summer.
I entered CA and pulled on the scales. I looked over at the DOT and could see them all laughing and pointing towards the back of my trailer. I looked in the mirror and there was a bubble the size of a basketball coming out my sidewall. They made me pull over and the officer popped it with his knife. I then had to get road service.

But did he write you a ticket and place you out of service?
I did blow a tire a half mile from the northbound Myrtle Creek scale in Oregon. Wouldn't you know it, the scale was open. I limped it in with flashers on, crossed the scale and then immediately and voluntarily parked. When I went in to ask whether I could wait there for the tire guy, the officer thanked me for first, not backing into his van (Swift really is working on that reputation) and second, for stopping. He said of course I could wait there and did not issue a citation. Perhaps because I already had my four-ways on and obviously knew about the tire, but was looking for a safe place to pull off. He said it surprises him how many drivers think it's okay to limp it out of the scale to the truck stop. Those are the ones who get cited.Everett Thanks this. -
Tazz, are you a Diesel cop in tn? If not you sure do sound like one.
