Suggesting they get one, or that's what the chemical is?
If you're suggesting it, I agree. I had one in the two trucks I had that were smoked in, and it helped. However, unless you get a good sized one, it takes a while to get teh smells out.

When packing for this time of year be sure to bring 2 pairs of shoes. I would suggest 1 pair to be boots. You will get into muddy and wet parking areas. And it is always a good idea to have a spare set of dry shoes around.
As for the gloves. When I get new leather ones I do not mind getting fuel on them at all. It softens the leather and water proofs the fingers and palms some. So my hands do not get as wet when my water proofing spray wears off.
Sleeping bag is great for a trainers truck. I would bring a sheet too, just so that it will more comfortable. And a mattress cover. You may not want to touch the one that is on there.
When I was with a trainer I put the mattress cover and sheet on the top bunk, but most of my sleeping was in the sleeping bag on the lower bunk (since you are not supposed to sleep up top when moving).
When you get to the backing yard you should really watch your classmates back.
You will learn to notice what they do wrong or right, and can use this as a training aid. Do not do what some do and stand around and talk instead of watching.
They will teach you tricks to pass the test, but this will not help you in many situations in the real world of docks and truck stops.
You eventually need to learn the "why" of backing. And the mechanics of "steer and counter steer".
Watching while in training can help you to gain this understanding.stlcardsfn, Smurfette and The Challenger Thank this. -

hourly pay starting 2 hours after your appointment time. 30/hr for lease ops and 16/hr for company drivers. you must arrive on time for scheduled appointment and you cannot leave the customer.
