What about finding the cause of your back pain, and rectifying it?

If the doctors have done everything they can, and cannot figure out why you're in pain, then it may be time to explore other options, such as looking into psychosomatic disorders, or maybe a new job. You may love driving, but if your body is always in pain, then you may need to re-evaluate driving as your source of income.

Just my $0.02, for what it's worth.

You need to get together with a doctor who both knows trucking and DOT medical guidelines and about managing pain.

Driving on vicodin would be hard to get a DOT card. any type of major pain killer will cause drowsiness.

You might find some DOT medical examiner that does not know what they are doing and might give you a card.... but the real problem will be if you are ever in a major accident they will hang both you and the medical examiner out to dry.

The DOT medical guidelines are that... guidelines for a doctor to use.. the real issue is.. are you safe to operate a CMV... if you are in so much pain you need heavy duty pain meds.... you may not be safe..

    Just my 2 cents worth.

yeah you need to follow what the law says .but meds effect people diffent than some .vindin does not make me sleepy.all my meds don't effect me like you would think .anyway i 'm chageing my meds to a sh.3 and they will not come up in a drug test .they do not make me sleepie.if anything they keep me up .but between getting in the gym and working out and changing my meds i should be ok .i been out there long enought to know what is right and wrong .i just wanted to get some feed back and i thank everyone for their intake .
