The Roehl drop yard by Dallas is in Garland, just NE of Dallas,it is actually a Conway terminal that they share with Roehl.I do the 7 on 7 off out of the Mogadore,OH.yard, and I live about 85 miles from there. The drive that bothers me is the one going down there to start my week, the one coming home is something I have been looking forward to all week.Oh well its up early tomorrow morning and off to Mogadore.![]()

Whee. Ok, I'm not with Bucks. I asked. I'm with someone they still call "Bruce."
They even gave me a hat!
Now, it's gearing up to live on $15 a day! -
Does anyone know how frequently they have the RDTC classes in Marshfield and how quickly they fill up? Also during training what is the actual amount you take home?

Great news! The last variable I am trying to decide prior to applying, is if I should apply for Midwest Regional or 7/3-7/4. I have seen on their site that Regional you are home every week? Although it starts 2 cents less per mile, it may be more profitable in the long run due to more miles and still home every week (even if just for 36 hours).
The online app requires one to choose which fleet they are applying for, does anyone have info on where exactly the Midwest region runs, and how solid their Regional home time is?
Thanks in advance.

Midwest regional is a "Hometime" fleet, whereas the 7/7 and 7/4 7/3 Fleets are "Hometime PLUS"
I don't have the experience to tell you how stable the schedule is. -
Hey...thanks for the link, I could not find that on their site.

For some reason, I had to leave off the 'www' from the address but great info. Midwest being 2 cents less and mainly upper midwest seems like a lot of bad winter driving. Although I'm sure running all 48 would have it's fair share of bad weather as well!
One follow up question on slip seating, has anyone had problems with the other drivers trashing the cab or dropping off a truck that does not pass your pre trip inspection?
:smt027 That would seem to be quite annoying if it happened on even a semi-regular basis. I know with MW regional I would have my own truck and be able to take proper care of it.

Yeah we are about 20 miles west of Columbia. We are in Boonville. My husband will be in Marshfield on the 9th of April for trainers orientation. That would be convenient if he is your trainer. In any event welcome to the Roehl family!

Regional always pays less or nobody would drive otr
A for winter driving you are better off staying north or FAR south. it's the middle you don't want. Snow is easy to drive on. The middle of the country it's always teatering on freezing so you get the slush, freezing rain, sleet stuff. That is what you don't want to drive on -
Very good points.

I've decided to do a pro/con assessment to help decide rather to apply for regional or home time plus. (7/4-7/3) The mileage and $ estimates are just that, I am posting this here to make sure I am not making any mistakes in my logic.
Midwest Regional:
-own truck/no slip seating
-no NYC/NE runs
-more miles/money per more days worked
-more familiarity with routes
-more time to research industry (see 'other variables' below)
7/4-7/3:
-two cents more per mile
-120 days off per year (approximating 80 days off for Midwest regional)
-can save about $4200 per year on truck/insurance payment (see 'other variables' below)
Other variables: Getting married in July, with Midwest Regional would want to wait until August or so to apply to get settled into the new home. With Home Time Plus could logistically afford to apply immediately and be able to turn in truck lease to Ford Credit in May, therefore saving on personal vehicle payment/insurance.
Now for the guesstimated figures:
Midwest Regional: if average 2200 miles per week @ the starting pay rate for rookie of .28/cmp = ~32k first year
7/4-7/3: if average 1500 miles per week (calculated from about 1/3 more days off with home time plus) @ .30/cpm = ~23,400 first year
Conclusion:
MW regional seems to be the better option financially*, although home weekly, there would be more stress in the household per being home about 80 days versus 120 days with HT plus.
* Net financial gain with MW regional: 32,000 - 23,400 - 4,200 = 4,400.
So I guess the big question is how much do I want to work, and do I want to start asap or in the fall? I am leaning toward MW regional right now. I wanted to post this thought process to maybe help someone else who may be weighing a similar choice and to make sure I'm not overlooking any important variables here.
Thanks!

I don't think I would recomend starting out in trucking on the hometime plus. Just doesn't seem right. Plus if you get the ol lady used to the regional running first then you can go to the hometime plus. No need to spoil her rht off the bat
