Thats good thinking! Just remember that there are other companies out there if it doesn't work out for ya. Always keep your options open. I still haven't got confirmation 100% that i'm starting 11/1.

That letter should be all they need. Keep in mind though, trucking companies can afford to be picky right now. Freight should be rolling pretty soon here. Stock market is reporting super high retail sales and should steadily increase toward the holidays!

Its not really being picky to be honest. I was told a figure of it costing about 6500 bucks for a company to get someone through this process....im sure that cost includes advertising, paying instructors or outside schools, transportation, training materials, im sure added insurance costs, cost of the trucks and trailers that do nothing but sit in a yard to train students and things of that nature. Yes you are paying them back for the schooling in part but that doesnt cover the entire cost. For instance it cost 4500 bucks to put a tiny advertisement up for one week. The school they sent me too cost 3 grand. I only end up paying back 1200 over a years time. How many people quit and never pay it back.

Now add into that there are not all these trucking jobs out there that people think there are. Also know that they get 100's of apps on a daily basis. Between all the places they send people to school and for training they probably have about 100 students or more per week. Actually there was one guy in my orientation that got his CDL through another mill that I didnt hear the name of. After he got that CDL he decided he didnt want to work for them. He then signed on with Swift and quit them before orientation was even over with. He then signed on with Central. Im surprised Central even took him. He's obviously a job hopper and the funny thing is that he hopped 3 times before even starting work lol.

So yeah they can and have to be picky about who they put through. Yeah people think that these companies make tons off these students but they dont... they actually invest in you. In most cases it is not the company training you. It is a school that they are paying to train you. They arent making money off it they are paying someone else. So if you dont make it for whatever reason and you dont pay for it then they lose money. They never make money from actually training you. You may make them tons afterwards if you make it through and stick with them but not from the training portion. Tons of people either dont make it all the way for various reasons or they quit altogether and never pay the costs. The reason she is questioning it, and it really is a benefit to you that she does... is she probably wants to make sure you wont have a problem getting a DOT physical card. It would suck for both parties if you were to bus out there and then end up having to bus home because you couldnt pass the physical.

I already have my cdl class A with hazmat tripples and tanker I currently hold my dot green card so that should not be my issue. I am only signing on with a company like central because you can not find driving work without having experiance as a tractor trailer combo, I need to be with a company for more than 1year prefer 2 years to get to a local starting point. If it works out to be where I am making what I need to and getting what i need it is possible to stay longer but time will tell.

im serious! all the loads in the SE are short 300 mile loads with lots of time on them... or even no appointment so when you get there, the shipper/receiver doesnt know what you are doing there. then after you been at the stop for 5 hours they set the appt for 18 hours later so you end up there for nearly a whole day!

all the trucks with cummins engines have that egr problem.

they dont want to get stuck paying for a pre-existing condition. Say he messed up his knee at the last employer, they dont want him coming back and filing a claim with central saying that he did it while working for them and collecting twice on the same injury.... when i used to work in a pharmacy i used to see it all the time. Some of those people had 3 claims open for the same injury. :biggrin_25513:

You can't sit there and file it like its a new claim if you were honest up front saying that you were injured at your last job (like I did), had them take care of it and are just not able to continue to do what I was. But now I am looking for a work load that I know I can sustaine...So just because something happened to me that was that was out of my controll, I get put in the same catagory as these scamers that are opening claims in three companies...
