    there's a bit of a misunderstanding here...

Students go out for about 4 weeks, two with a "so you've got your CDL, now let's teach you to drive"- trainer, then two with a "now let's make sure you know all the boring stuff"- trainer, for the qualcomm, how Roehl wants your logs done, trip sheets, how to get paid, who to talk too, all that crap.

your 40k miles of experience, allowed you to bypass the first two weeks. if you had over 100k, or a year, you prolly still be down to "spend a couple of days with this local fella, while we find you a truck"

Moriarti ya I hear 40K in trucking isnt really that much , and if my company got me home more than once for 3 days in almost 4 months then I wouldnt be looking at Roehl, they werer actually a really laid back company and good to work for but unfortunately a few bad cookies cost them alot of drivers, n ya I know tRoehl has gotta test the drivers to make sure they know what they are doing on logs,qc, trip sheets etc. Its really no problem. thanks for the input.
Now if only I had a post or PM from someone that is actually running flatbed western regional to give me the "real" story i'd be happy. But either wy it is what it is. take care

Ranger's post is interesting...short on drivers, long on freight. I recently made the move to a flatbed O/O and was told not to expect much West because Roehl doesn't have it yet. I live in PA, but wouldnt mind running cross country at all...would love it in fact! Maybe it's all regional stuff.
Anyhow, Southbay, it's a new territory for Roehl, so it's hard to say what freight is really like in that region. As for being surprised at the in depth orientation, you only have 4months and about 40k miles. I came into Roehl as a student, and had nearly that in training including my Evo3 runs, so in Roehl's eyes you don't even qualify as a rookie yet. They like their drivers to be THOROUGHLY trained. The good news is once you get through the paces as a new driver with Roehl, you WILL be well trained. It's surprising what they can stuff into your skull in a short amount of time.

I drive in the western regional I get home every week and am real happy with them. alot of the freight is true regional 400 - 600 miles. a lot of phoenix to la. there are two fm's that do only western and they both live in phoenix. and do a great job. most the time i don't even ask to go home they just send me then my fm ask me when I want to go back out she doesn't just tell me. my one question 4 you is I thought they were not taking anyone with less then a year of experience to run in the west. just something to ask them.
    good luck...

    Nedrudt Thanks this.

How is that Western Regional Working out? I know they are also hiring national out of the Western Regional domicile and there have been some home time issues.

My husband has worked for Roehl for the past 7 years, we moved out west a year ago and they just are having a hard time getting him home... he has been out this time over 2-months... He has been home 10-times in 1- year.... I'm over it... Other than that small problem, Roehl is a good company...
