Hello! My name is Clutch. Starting orientation with May Trucking on Monday in Layton, Utah. I was supposed to start in Denver, but they don't have a new safety manager there yet, so it's off to Utah on the bus on Sunday. I'm told five others from Denver are going to be there too.
I graduated from the Sage Trucking School in Casper, Wyoming on September 30th and am anxious to begin.
A little back ground on me. I did previously hold a class B CDL for 3 1/2 years driving a bus. Running coal miners from Douglas, Wyoming to the mines twice a day. Some things applied to the big trucks like air-brakes, but backing a semi is alot harder than backing a bus! LOL.
Anyway, I will try to keep posting as often as possible to give other newbies insight into the orientation and training process with May Trucking.
Hope to see you out there soon.

I haven't decided yet. I'd like to stick to west if I can get enough miles, if not I'll go 48.

Thanks mac for the support,
Well I'm here in Layton on Sunday night ready to begin orientation tomorrow. I shared a cab from the ogden, Ut bus depot with another newbie to begin May orientation tomorrow as well. And yes, May paid for the cab as well as the bus. Plus I get my own room at the hotel, no sharing! Yeah!
The bus ride from Denver was interesting to say the least. Alot of people on the bus were heading to SLC to go to the CR England school. quite the diverse group, LOL! There were also a few heading to Central refer's orientation.
I hope to find out tomorrow if I'm going to be leaving with a trainer from here or will bus it back to the mile high city. I'd rather leave with a trainer from here than deal with the bus again.
From what I've heard and read, we'll start with a backing test and some videos tomorrow. Plus I'm sure we'll have to pee in a cup at some point.
Will update after tomorrow's orientation.
drive safe,

Best of luck to you brother,I just got off my trainer's truck Thursday in Brooks,OR and should be getting my own truck this week.
Everyone at May has been great so far,my trainer was great and so was his DM,I hope I get a good DM like her myself.
I was with my trainer 14 days,we drove from Brooks to PA then NY and then headed South to GA where we turned for home again but with a sidebar up to Seattle.
Hope they get the TV in the lounge there at Layton fixed,it was fubar when we were there last week.
There's a killer Asian buffet up the street and an IHOP around the corner along with the typical fast food joints you find everywhere.
Read up on the Qualcom as soon as you get your book,it's the part I had the hardest time with.
Not that it's all that hard but there's a lot to remember about it and stuff you have to remember to do at every stop.
Have fun and try to relax some, you won't get much sleep when you hit the road for training unless you're one of those folks that nods off easy and can't be disturbed by anything short of an earthquake.
Everett Thanks this. -
Thanks for the support and added info.
Y2k, which terminal are you based outy of?
