i had alltel and when the switch came about i went with verizion not saying that was the best choice either. when verizion took over my first bill was 698.00 when i ask them why was my bill so high they tried to say that it was a carry over from alltel they tried to say that i hadn;t paid the last months bill but you see they didn't know that i had all my reciepts so i threatened to sue them because they want to hear it when they are wrong.i won the battle who ever you go with keep your recpts and if you pay your bills in a machine make a hars copy of it and file in a safe place because the thin paper fades out. so who ever you choose just keep all your papers but truthfully they are about the same i don't think one is better than the other and i have everyone of them over the years,
AT&T or Verizon after AllTel closes doors?

My recommendation is if you are gonna want DATA start with Sprint. Use it for 30 days. If you find it falters return the phone get your refund and go to Verizon. Again, AT&T stinks. -
where i live there is no coverage by sprint or verizon......and i'm halfway between allentown and stroudsburg pa.........i ran all up and down the east coast on at&t with great coverage rates between verizon and at&t mirror each other

I've had Verizon for about 15 years & haven't found any others any better. That's not saying Verizon doesn't have issues, they're just better suited to my operation.
When I'm forced into AT&T I will give them a try for the grace period. If their service is at least comparable to Verizon I'll stay with them, if not I don't know what I'll do.
