Truck Drivers Delivering Unknow Product

Well; I have to admit that I would not have taken you for a flatbedder (by the attire in your pic) I have loaded in all kind of places and kicked off in places I never would have imagined. Never seen anyone dressed like that for skateboarding.

 

I don't get how you could assume this from looking at his avatar. Creepy to say the least.

LOL. I pull step decks and RGNs. I do try and dress nice when the work allows. If it's one of those loads that is sure to get you dirty I dress accordingly and then change when I get cleaned up again. Most of my loads don't require a tarp, which helps a lot.

My customers appreciate having a driver show up that is dressed in neat, clean clothing, and it really helps at the scales too.

 

Funny how you didn't take offense to it (none intended) but some yard bird had to fly off the handle about my awareness. I did not make any derogatory statements about your attire, yet you would have thought I killed someone with the statement I made. That is one of the problems with being a truck driver. Plenty of idiots out here to engage in conversation.

Yeah; you have the sophisticated look going. More like a professor, than a skateboarder. I pulled a traditional board. A lot of my loads required the gift wrapping on top.

 

Bull crap, the driver isn't charged. Don't you know the driver is ultimately responsible for that load, whether they have knowledge of its contents or not? If it's got contraband in it, and you get caught with it, LEO's don't care if you play dumb because you really didn't know what was in there. The driver is guilty until proven innocent.

But I guess as long as you keep it under 80,000lbs then it doesn't matter what you're hauling.// I know because the company said so.

This is part of what's wrong in the trucking industry is so many drivers just say, "oh well, it's not my responsibility to know what I'm hauling, I just need to make the delivery on time", and that's exactly the way the company wants it too. They prefer truck drivers who don't question anything. The bottom line with the company is always reduced to $$$, it certainly isn't safety or security.

A lot of drivers have no clue what they're actually hauling. Doesn't it cause you any concern if you don't know what's in that trailer? "It is what it is" is because you made it that way by ignoring your better judgment.

####, if only the shippers/trucking companies were held to the same fire that truck drivers are, things would be very different. We wouldn't have any need for the CSA 2010. Part of this is because so few drivers put any effort into trying to make the company accountable and accept their portion of the blame. And shame on the FMCSA for not making those companies more accountable for the problems in the first place.
