found a "good school" but i guess you get what you pay for. all they offer is class A OR B and they DO NOT offer tanker or haz mat , i guess thats why it's so cheap. i really wanna go to n.b.i but they cost around 5400 and 6k bucks but thats getting me everything ill need. just seeing if anyone knows how to get a grant or some tipe of funding any info will help thanks alot and keep on trucking ......

If you qualify WIA can help you, check at your local unemployment office...You don't have to be unemployed, just qualified for the program...

why would you need a school to do tanker and haz mat? Get you a cdl manual and take the tanker and haz mat tests yourself. Of course with haz mat you have the background and fingerprinting as well.

I was broke and unemployed when I decided to take the trucking plunge, and I ended up choosing C-1 in Indinapolis. Im pretty sure they have a few locations around the country. If you sign a contract to work for one of 4 or 5 companies and they accept you, they pay for the school, lodging, food, testing, everything.....no money up front needed, just the ability to stick it out with a crap company making 28cpm and rarely coming home for the first year. I think "driver solutions" is the name of the company that arranges everything

you can always check your local community college to see if they offer the commercial driving training course. many of them do that. then you can apply for a state technical grant to cover part of the course. i attended a PTDI certified class and it only cost me $581.00

i qualified for a state grant that paid for the rest of the course.

Yeah, check into the WIA program at the un-employment office. If you qualify, it's freeeeeeeee.

Thank you all for the advice. I am currently unemployed, and am tired of working for "temp" agencies. I want a steady career, and have been interested in trucking for a while. I am going to give WIA, a try. Thank you all again.
